Question Buy TATASKY before 1stmay or you will not be the owner of settop box

    Dear all

Buy TATASKY before 1stmay or you will not be the owner of settop box

Tatasky is reconsidering its Terms & conditions

so all you want to be the sole owner of the settop box and the money you pay for it please buy before 1stmay or you will not be the owner of settop box

every sales after 1st may is only the Activation charges

so technically TATAsky will own the settop box

    so buy sooooooooon

No subscriber is owner of the equipment or CPE (dish, LNB, STB) - yes, even after paying for it. This applies to all DTH subscribers, regardless of who is the service provider.

But this should not dampen the subscribers. Because:
    • for all practical purposes you own the CPE, i.e., no one is going to take it away from you
    • suppose if you discontinue the service, what are you going to do with the CPE? The STB can now serve the purpose of a decorative piece or a good paperweight.
    • The dish and LNB may be reused but if you subscribe to another service, you will have to pay for the CPE again
People should stop worrying about h/w ownership and worry more about recurring costs, viz., subscription rates.

    Dear

    it funny read it further

from 1st may CPE (settop box ) also belongs to Tatasky

in olden days if your not recharging they can remove only the Dish and the LNBF and go

from 1st may if you are not recharging for 90 days they will even take your settop box also (if you are buying after 1st may )

pls, try to understand - this is what i tried to explain

in case look into a scenario

    Let us consider

I have tatasky (bought after 1st may) i had paid Rs 3999 for the HD PVR model and i go on business trip (most of techie guys will go ) for 4 months

    eventually you willnot recharge ....
they will torture you by calling for recharge, you will do it because you are not watching it

and 90 days passes by they will come to your home and take you STB (note : you have paid Rs 3999/-) (but now it is termed as activation charge)

    Gone baby gone money--===

this is what i tried to explain, i also understand long running cost all those funda......

but dear here im seeing the day light robbery.........

(now dont come and say that your home will be closed how can they take....
for that answer is i have my father and mother, who are india, who watch cable TV not this funny DTH.. where this DTH is connected to my HD-plasma TV )

And I repeat, all customer premise equipment (CPE) belongs to the company. I do not wish to argue but please read the fine print in the contract. And this is nothing to do with 1 May or whatever date.

No company in their right mind would do that. It does not make any business sense. Having a huge activation fee to make up for the cost of CPE? It will act as a reentry barrier and will prove to be very costly for the company in the long run as instead of getting a connection reactivated it would be same cost or even cheaper to go to another company. Why would some one get tata sky reactivated?

Even if one owns an STB, what he /she would do with it once tatasky is disconnected.
For example, after worldspace is closed. many owners of STB sell it at Rs50 as scrap.
If the new policy is implemented , Tatasky may not permit use of Old STBs to be used for future connections. Thus no charm even for owning some electronic scrap.
