Thread: NEW HD Channels (Test?)

Saw 3 NEW HD channels on Tata Sky today

1. Star Movies HD (channel no 342)
2. Star World HD (channel no 202)
3. Star Gold HD (channel no 301)

So here we have the whole star family on HD

They can amp the rate soon, Time to get a year pack for cost proofing?
Current HD rate is just 50 rs pack
which is 2 Info channels + the channels mentioned above + IPL

That sure sounds like a cost increase to come in HD pack.

Should I buy the yearly package?
Will that secure HD @ 50pm for an year?

PS:
The channels are real HD and not Up-scaled, Watched a movie too on Star Movies, the quality was crisp and clear.

I think HD only makes a difference with channels like Nat Geo , Discovery etc. other channels... there is not much diff. if you already have HDTV..

Also HD makes more sense in sports like Formula 1 / BPL / WWE.. who wants to watch Star plus in HD??

The new Star HD channels (Star Plus HD, Star Gold HD, Star World HD) are showing mixed content of HD and SD. For example, old serials such as "Friends" which has not been released in HD, are shown as upscaled but the new serials such as "Dexter" are in HD. Star Gold HD too is showing new movies in real HD (1080i) and not cheating customers like DishTV.

I will recommend the HD pack at Rs. 50 pm. It is definitely worth it.

Are you looking in context with HD service? If the answer is "yes", then to answer your question, "no, TS is not costlier than others".

You can opt for Supreme Sports Pack (Rs. 240 pm), and if interested as the English News pack (Rs. 20 pm) and English Entertainment (Rs. 35 pm). This makes it Rs. 295 pm. Add to this the HD pack at Rs. 50 pm and for Rs. 345, you are good to go.

Very true about TataSky not misleading customers.I took the annual mega pack to insulate myself from any hike in prices as new HD channels are added
