Default HD content through component video

I have philips 29" CRT TV(29PT7325) with HD ready(1080i). HD is supported only through component video(No HDMI port). Does Tata Sky + HD STB output 1080i or 720p through component video?

Component video is capable of resolutions upto 1080i. HDMI takes this beyond to 1080p/24p. TataSky HD STB has component video out, as far as I know.

Red face HD content through component video > TataSky

I have a TataSKY HD STB- This does have Component Out (in addition to standard AV and HDMI out). As far as quality is concerned -

Standard AV - (Yellow/Red/White) - only SD output - no HD output possible
    Component out - (Green/Blue/Red) - HD output - quality good - (limited to 1080i)
HDMI out - HD output - quality best.

But in my personal opinion I've used all three and found no substantial difference in output between Component output and HDMI output (viewing true HD channels - 1080i LCD TV). Of course there is an ocean of difference if you are watching a HD channel with the standard AV cable!

Please note that NO operator transmits in 1080p as yet in India. They may say they do, but the infrastructure does not exist as of now. (it doesn't matter if YOUR TV is 1080p)

The reason that you do not find any difference, and you will not find it on any HD-TV transmission, is because all HD in STB is 1080i.
