Question How is ur signal during rain?

Lets have some feedback regarding TS signal during these rains....

Last night there was continuous lightning for arnd 25min (8.30 - 9.00pm) due to which my signal was down for almost 30min... during a normal shower it takes arnd 5-10min for it to adjust and return...it has deteriorated since last year...
Last year it generally took 2min to adjust...or probably i was lucky since many imp. Fifa world cup matches were going on...

Is any1 facing a worse situation... and is there any improvement from previous rains?

The transponder band used by Indian DTH providers (KU Band?), is notorious for rain outages. Also the monsoon clouds are much thicker than the other clouds elsewhere in the world. There is a lot of electro-static in the clouds. All these affect the reception during rains - for all providers - some more, some less.

Yesterday, the rain was much heavier (with lots of thunder) than usual and hence outage was more.

    Hi,

Yes. .I am also a Tata Sky DTH user.I agree with you about the KU band used by DTH providers in India.BUt IT cant be helped.Very high frequency(KU) means very narrow Wavelength( similar to metre band in radio reception).so the moment rains start the signal gets cut off.the restoration time depends on the intensity of the thunderclouds as well as the type of rain( with or without thunder and lightning). The very high electrostatic charge in the clouds weakens the signal. You may note the signal is restored soon after a thunder strike because the static charge in the cloud gets dissipated.

It is indeed most annoying. If there is even a light rain, the signal goes off and nowadays it takes quite some time to come back. I have three connections and have recommended Tata sky to a lot of people. They all have the same complaint and blame me for recommending Tatasky.
