Default Leaving Tatasky for Airtel: Okay?

    Hi,

I'm been using Tatasky for about 3 1/2 years. I rate them as,

    1) Their channel packages are weird and costly.
    2) Customers support is not toll free, we have spend our currency to talk to them regarding repair as such, and they insist to hold on for 3-5 minutes.
    3) During rains its does goes off
    4) Less number of Channels.
    5) Their remote sucks, we have use two remote one to operate TV and the other set top box.

I'm been thinking Airtel is better one, what do you people have to say about this.
How to discontinue the service, just don't pay ? auto deactivation?
The dish and the wire, does it belong to us or them.
Can be use the wire if we go for other DTH service

    Please suggest a good DTH.

    Thanks

Airtel or TS or any other - if you look very closely there is not much difference between them. It all depends on who is offering what.

I will suggest to have a close look on all the providers and check packages/pricing. Quality wise, TS is good. But others are not way behind.

If you have decided to switch, you should call TS and ask them to discontinue service. They will take back the roof top dish/LNB and the STB. That belongs to them. You can keep the cable.

    Hi Just4kix,

If that belong to them why did we pay the upfront cost for the STB. I have a dishtv connection which I am not using for 2 years now, never bothered to call them.

Nothing will happen if you do not inform about discontinuation. People believe that own the equipment (CPE) but that is incorrect. Most never return the CPE; that is why they collect the money upfront. The fact still remains that equipment is their's by law and contract.

But we have paid a security deposit for the equipment. It may not be much (Rs. 400 or something) but you can get it back if you return the (now useless) equipement.

Note that STB is tied to the VC; so even if you sell it, the buyer cannot use it.
