Default Tata Sky Plans to launch 4k Ultra HD Based set top boxes

Next year Tata Sky will have their new 4k UHD set top boxes. A live telecast was shown with the 4K technology.
4K technology is 8.3 mega pixels which is 4 times better than the regular HD resolution, which means more clarity and vivid colors.
Although Tata Sky has been the last when it comes to new channels being launched, technology wise its always first. The new set top box is said to be launched early next year and most probably other DTH providers will follow suit.

The million dollar question is that how much is the box going to be? I have 3 boxes and out of those one is recording one so it will cost a lot to switch over unless Tata sky provides the new boxex at a no profit basis the uptake will be very slow.

It will be set at a high cost for sure, even the HD + box is expensive. I am guessing that the new set top box would be around Rs5000.

The simple box or recording one? I have a HD recording box and wonder what we could do with the box if we decide to go for the new one.

Take out the hard drive and use as backup storage?

Seriously! This is just another way for the company to make money, the current HD + box is good enough anyway. Although there is nothing majorly good about the new box there will be people who will buy it.
