Default Cost of Tata Sky 4K Set Top Box

I wanted to find out how much the Tata Sky 4K STB box is, but have been unable to find the price from the Tata Sky website. I dont know whether I am looking at the wrong pages but have been unsuccessful. I know there are quite a few Tata Sky users on the forum, so wanted to know if any of them know what the cost of the new 4K STB is.

    Thanks.

When HD service was first introduced in India (by Dish TV), the set top box itself was 6999. Now its 599.
So, dont expect anything less than that, I would recommend that you wait till 4K services are popular. HD services are still in premium service sector, I dont think any channels offer 4K resolution at the moment!?

Another thing to note is that most of us including me do not have a TV that supports 4K resolution so what is the point. Those TVs are very new or we can say not so old yet to be reasonably priced for the masses and I am not going to spend a few lakh rupees to buy one of those and make a fool of myself. The same stuff will be available for less then half the price a year or two down the line or may be even less who knows.

Seriously this is a joke, with all the technology stuff, it was ok till HD but this 4K, I mean does it really make a difference to the viewing? On top of that you need a compatible TV.

Finally, an era will come where TV pictures are more crisp than real world??

Thats what it looks like. I guess the day isint too far when we would be able to view TVs with out eyes closed with resolution that human eyes cannot process well so straight to the brain ha ha ha

It is good that all this high end technology stuff is coming out, but honestly HD seems perfectly fine. You have 3D, and I have even heard about 5D and 7D what the hell is that all about?

5D or 7D are nothing different.. they are just to attract customers... in 4D you just have some more effects like physical motion and other effects...

First time I am hearing about these new d's. So whats 7D all about then, 4D is understandable.

I am also having Tata sky DTH with conventional LG slim TV and i find it sharp enough!maybe they brought in HD technology to cater to the super rich who have an exclusive home theatre room with LCD/LED TV of not less than 50 or 60 inches size installed.even there I felt it is unnecessary to spend extra money on HD STB and Hd service which involves an extra monthly payment!

Any technology which is new or recently launched is priced fairly high to keep margins up. Take for example mobile phones which come down by as much as 50% after a year or two. This premium price will be a thing of the past once these 4K tvs are mass produced. I believe HD would become the norm in 5-6 years and this 4K would carry a small premium. Who knows
