Question Tata Sky+ (not HD) PVR & Harmony One remote

    Hello,

I have scoured this and other forums for a solution, and have not been able to find anything related to Tata Sky+ without HD, hence my post here asking for help.

I have a Logitech Harmony One remote.
I have a Tata Sky+ PVR. Please note this is a very old PVR, no HD. So, basically just SD channels capability, but has an HDD-based PVR, hence the +.
Just to make things interesting, the TV I use is an old Sharp 29F-PD350I CRT TV. Not HDTV, not flatscreen, but an archaic tube TV

I would like to use the Harmony with the Tata Sky+ box, but have been unable to find anything online re. the exact model number.

Forums and posts mention the nonPVR box (Thomson) or the HD box (Pace). Problem is, mine is neither of these two; and there is no model number anywhere on the box itself. It just says Digicom with a serial number, no model, number.

I tried using the model numbers for the Thomson and Pace boxes, and these do not work. Nothing happens after the remote is programmed with either of these.

Logitech's own database does have a couple of options for Tata Sky, but these do not work either, because it looks like they too are based on the Thomson box which has no PVR capability.

The one thing I have yet to try is to create a brand new device and learn from the old original remote. I want to keep that as a last resort.

Any ideas on where else I can look for information or assistance?

    Thanks and cheers

Although it is a bit cheeky but If I was you I would give Tata sky a call saying the box goes off on its own and then comes back to life without me doing anything, they will replace your box with a newer one without any charges and you will have a new box with manufacturer clearly mentioned on it.

Hehehehe great idea, except for one thing: my wife has a shitload of shows recorded that she has yet to watch; and if the box is changed, she loses all of those. And that's when, your honour, my wife kicked me out of the house and her life

And oh, the box is not rented, it is bought and owned by us, so all Tata Sky will say is that the box is borked and ask us to buy a new one

    Cheers

I recently got my tata sky HD+ box replaced without having to pay anything and I purchased that box 3-4 years ago. I am not aware of an option to rent from Tata sky. Try speaking to customer care and see what they say, I am sure you wont have to pay anything.

Oh, OK. I shall try that, thank you. Now all I have to do is convince my wife to abandon the shows she has recorded

    Cheers

I am sure that is going to be a task in itself. Have a chat with the installation guy and see if he would be willing to switch the hard drive and put the old one in new box.

even i have been after this option of transferring the HDD contents of STB onto a pen-drive, since a long time. AFAIK airtel STB does have this option, & IIRC i recently read somewhere that a similar option was made available for Tata Sky too; but not sure.
