DishTV and SunTv both seems to b in a hurry to get numbers. which is a must for all. problem is the company is happy to appoint franchisees to oversee the operations rather than assuming full responsibility. where will teh customers go if there is a technical hiccup. in TataSky's case the company handles it.
people of india still do not demand moneys' worth. they still like the trash. if a tatasky subscriber moves out of bombay and goes to kolkatta, he still get the service in the same subscriber id. normal documentation like change of address and intallation is all they need at the new place. other operators since handled by franchisees problems are bound to crop up.
i did not say lower price is bad.

Customer care of Tata is as bad or good as Dish TV. I have tata sky at home and you are put on hold for atleast 7-10 min before they pick up the call.

Offlate, Tata sky is making the STAR sports/ESPN/Start cricket as paid channels. THis wont go down with the viewers very well especiall with Big TV launch coming up in Dec.

I have DishTV and its good. The only bad thing I can think of besides the nagging ●Active logo(on channels like sports, movies etc) is non user friendly menu(just like their website).

Every year on Dec 31, my Dish Tv comes up for renewal and every last 2 years I thought about switching to TataSky but have not found a compelling reason to do so. If TataSky waved off installtion and STB charges (on account of my switching) I may have considered it.

Then TataSky brought in the channel package seggregation and that put me off to some extent. I am getting reasonable good quality signal and I have no real complaints against the CC - in fact I rarely had to go to them. So "never fix anything that ain't broken" rule applies.

I have the following compalints though:

• Rain outage is more on DishTV than TataSky.
• The user interface is not good.
• There is a one/two second delay when you switch channels.
• The electronic program guide is quite unfriendly.
• As vishnus89 said, the ●Active logo is irritating - but so is the case with TS also.
• Till date, I have never recieved a payment receipt - electronic or paper.

I forgot to say few details I guess it’s because I am used to it by now.

● Dish TV’s interface was the best before they upgraded.
● It was simple and easy for anyone to understand (anyone who read the manual).
● Dish TV’s ads were so catchy that I couldn’t wait to get updated.
● I mean glossy vista like interface and real-time news and stuff like that.
● All I am getting now is a Turbo C++ like visual interface (may be its because my TV is not good).
● It's not very difficult if you use windows OS.
● I never ever used any of the ‘Active Services’ yet.
● I don’t know why anyone would use it.

(I exaggerated a little OKAY.)

I would still like to get the old interface back if there is way. If anybody know a way to do it please share.

I really don't care to wait and happy to for 7-10 mins coz atleast i get satisfactory answer or resolution after waiting for 7-10 mins but in case of other providers like sify need to wait for hours and hours due to the wrong information, which one is better waiting on phone for 10 mins or sitting back idle and waiting for hours or days with wrong information.

Cable TV provider is better than all these DTH Service providers. I am well satisfied with Hathway who are my Cable TV providers.

I have been using Tata sky and am very happy with the service (it appears that the polls validate my sentiment). I went for Tata Sky because of the Tata brand. The Reliance is only after your money, tata get you quality.

I have been a Dish Tv user for a very long time. I was initially very happy with the service but it has gone down drastically. They are trying to improve to face stiff competition from tatasky and big tv. On face of it, Tata sky looks very good if you consider all the parameters and not only the cost. Dish Tv needs to work real hard.

It depends upon your personal experience with customer care, even if you compare tata sky is no way near to dishtv in any respect:
dishtv has more no. channels
dishtv has better entry offers
dishtv has more economical packages.
dishtv has more regional content then any other DTH
having more music channels then tata sky
having all good channels in their bouquet and that too on very affordable rate
dishtv is really value for your money and many more advantage.

If you talk about service just check on website of CORE , where in an all india survey on customer service and satisfaction ---- tata sky ranked No.1 IN POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION.

Am not sure about dish but having used tata sky for over few months now, will say that they have done a very good job. i think they have the simplest user interface plus i enjoy doin the word game with my nephew on tatasky. its a good game.

This is in reference to the previous post about DISH and TATA Sky. About the quality, Tata Sky wins hands down. About the no of channels, agreed that Dish has more channels but what channels are those. Mostly non descript zee channels which no one watches any ways. So this point is not valid. I conceded about the number of music channels. It is low cost, but what is the point of having low cost stuff if it comes with a bad service? To be honest, I am a TS user and cannot comment on Dish Tv but I know some things from my friend's experience.

I am a very old customer of Dish Tv and have seen the service go down the drain. I am planning to take TS service for my second TV. Hopefully, i shall be able to give you a judgment based on my own experience. I am looking forward to TS (I really hope for a good exp. My fingers are crossed).

dude, its a good decision. just make sure u get the right package for yourself otherwise will end up cribbing like other buddies here..That done well, everything will go well.. I have it and i give it a thumbs up..
