Rep Power: 0 | as far as quality of feed, both TataSky & DishTV are ahead of cablewallahs. its worth switching over to DTH than stay in cable, even though there has been some good improvement there. prices have come down considerably now. I paid skyhigh to get my connection as i am one of the earliest in the country to switch over to DTH. I use TataSky and chose it for ONE specific reason over DishTV. TataSky is serviced by TataSky incase of any technical problem. The seller of the settopbox has no hold on you after the sales. Isn't that a good thing, guys? The company takes care of servicing the connection. This was the reason I chose TataSky, and not because it is from Tata's. DishTV is from Zee stable. They are also a good company. Why I did not chose this was because the whole show is serviced by the franchisees who sell, install and collect charge coupons ect. Incase the franchise goes bust, so is your connection till another franchisee takes up the risk of running business in your area. Franchise has to pay in advance to DishTV, so his thrust is to make his money. I am saying this with because I had an opportunity to associate with a TataSky franchisee ( his job is ONLY to get connections, do marketing, find potential customers, hold stock of set top boxes and sell it directly to customers or to small dealers who can find their own customers in their areas). Hope you can see the difference between the two. Very few people are aware of this part of the business. Hope all of you find this posting useful. And this is not a promotional post on behalf of any operators. Or a biased post because I am a user of a particular brand. |

Rep Power: 0 | i think the prices have fallen down to half now! once they got their requisite numbers they dropped the prices to now around 1499/-. I have not yet cheked with my friend who has a distributorship for TataSky. But I have seen quite a few pamphlets with Rs.1499/-. One thing I am impressed with TataSky is that the company is in charge of the Service and related things. Others like DishTV, SunTV etc the service is with the franchisee ( he is more like the cable operator in all aspects). The franchisees do not have a brand to bother about, his only worry is his money invested and the profit he made. But for a company brand image, brand recall and retention of customer loyalty is of utmost importance. For a company it is NOT like a 'use and throw sanitary pad'. But what I have found is many customers are worthless. They still crib about small things and bargain on it. this habit I have found the high society customers ( here these guys willing blow on a worthless whore in lakhs, but hesitate to spend Rs.250/- a month for family entertainment). Even if the cable operator spits on him, he will fall at his feet and beg him for what he wants. for these people Quality is not important, still stuck with quantity. |

I thought it was good that people in India are becoming more demanding and want a good deal out of th money they spend.. Is trying to get the prices lowered bad? I am sorry but your post hardly made any sense to me. May be I am too thick to understand what you are trying to say... could you please rephrase.. | |

This topic is about comparing DishTV and TataSky (cable does not count). I have been DishTV customer for over 2 years and I do not consider that they provide inferior service. I have always said that TS provides slightly better quality but DishTV provides "more for less". And what is wrong in asking more for less? Also I am quite amused at your statement about entertainment - are you trying to generalize that customers (and you did say 'many customers') will spend lakhs on a whore but do not wish to spend on family entertainment?
