I looked at the specs of the system. It does not say anywhere that it can record video. I do not think that you can record TV programs (or any video) with this system.

You need a DVR device for the same. DVRs can record (unencrypted) video from the source (TV, VCR (non Macrovision tape), DVD (region free and non CCE disk), etc.). Recording is often done on a hard disk inside the DVR. Some DVRs come equipped with DVD writer and then you have an option to write the recorded video to DVD.

you can get this DVR (Digital Video Recorder) attachment from any good computer store for just (local) 1200-1500 rupees and (branded) 2000-2500 rupees

and if you need complete DVR then it will cost you about 9000 which you can use with Tata Sky there are lot many good models by Onida.

AVer Media HD EzRecorder C283. This is the only option without getting your warranty cancelled from the DTH Provider for opening and tempering with Set Top Box , and not getting caught up in all illegal copyrights violations. This is a simple solution and it dose not involve copying, distributing, copyrighted material, because we are capturing it . But of course it would need one time investment as all backdoor entries do.It's around 7500 Rupees. Now let me guide you through the benefits.

    Primary Benefits:

    1. Stand-alone, Stand Out Recording (No need of PC or Laptop at the time of recording, plus you can simultaneously watch the show and record the same time)
    2. One-press Capture (press a single button and the recording starts)
    3. Prime Time Anytime with Schedule Recording (record your favorite shows without your personal presence near TV)
    4. Storage Facility (Both Internal as well as external is available)

    Picture Quality and Storage Benefits:

1.Everything can be recorded in max 1080i Quality(a bit below 1080p , 1080P not supported)plus you have the options of 480i / 480p / 576i/ 576p/ 720p to select from if you want to switch resolutions
2.It uses H.264 Hardware Compression Technology (No video Quality loss)
    3.Instant Recording Playback
4.It has Built-in 2.5 Hard Disk Slot (Buy the hard disk from market and insert it in, all the recording will be saved in it)
5.There is a USB Port (where in you can attach USB Hard Drive , portable hard drive, pen drive what ever you want or what ever you have handy, all data will be saved in it) YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW THE 4 STEP OR THE 5TH STEP , NOT BOTH

6.NO NEED TO CONVERT THE FORMAT OF THE VIDEOS YOU RECORDED AS ALL THE RECORDED STUFF IS IN AVI HD FORMAT(easily playable in what ever device you want , as avi format is generally compatible with everything)
7.As all the data is saved in external drive it's easy to carry, transfer, share

May be Airtel HD DTH is protected by Macrovision. So what is the next step. Could you please help me in this..
Please let me in a detailed form as to how you are connecting your devices , with which cable , and which television and set top box company and its model , and also try recording SD channels with component cables and see if it works out

I dont think you can do this, I mean the only way I see to do this is but connecting a cable from the STB to your desktop or laptop then also using some special recording software.

Well first of its a standalone recorder , so you don't need a PC or a laptop to record your games or TV program's you record from set top box directly , insert portable hard drive or pen drive in the USB port and you done. You can also use a HDCP bypasser/remover such as this http://shopping.rediff.com/product/s...itter/12653404 (video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ge7qJN3TU6Q) , and you might also upgrade your firmware , that might also short out the issues. As in this video you can see , this device can record directly from set top box and save your recordings in HD and well as SD (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3P8mqqNRjI) . If set top box companies have added a new security feature to stop one from recording by new HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) Security and software put in place , you will need a hdmi splitter or hdcp bypasse/remover , but that only has hdmi port and hdmi compatible and no component cables are supported for bypassing hdcp protection, you can google it if you can find a hdcp remover with component cables support. And you should have gone for a new aver media hardware product http://geb.ebay.in/g/ImportHubViewIt...HDMI-Interface , it dose everything to what you purchased , but is smooth and latest with hdmi in and hdmi out.

You may as well get a HD + box which would allow recording of programs. It would be less hassle.
