I applied for tata indicom wimax 256-unlimited on 19th of this month I got the connection today (21-10-2008) Morning , I got a verification call on (20-10-2008) .....

I am very happy about the service they provide Download speed varies from 30-40 KB/sec

Upload speed its constant and they provide 23 KB/sec

I am very very happy about the service..... I have dynamic ip

I stay in New Delhi and using Tata Wimax and trust me it really works fine, for me tata is working fine from last more thn one month without any downtime and speed always remains constant without and disconnection or something.
one thing i wud like to suggest before you get wimax installed: do check the signal strength at your premisis before you get wimax installed.

i got connecction for 384 kbs .Its working fine but its dynamic ip and the ip is in lease so it expires for few hours then again we have to restart .
speed is between 40-50 kbs but lot fluctuation

Have read the pathetic service turmoil that teh admin is going through ,
however after a not so bad but really useless Reliance and We are upto 256 but you get 2kbps Sify the Mof and teh money laundring B****ds I am clueless and looking for some solace in this Tata VSNL Wimax,

So Ramya, How has it been using this Wimax thing,
How far is your location form a tower, what is teh signal strength,

I am just under teh tower, Not figuratively but about two to three blocks away, so will that help,

Guys I have wasted about 3K this month on Both Reliance and Sify
and Reliance is still billing me, they claim the service is working, ???? where as it isn't , SIFY doesnt work after 8:00Pm, it sucks big time, and having a dialer program to connect is worse, it becomes a pain in the ass when teh local gateway is acting weird, I have paid for 30 Days, so I will let it hang in but want to go for a good speed, and stable connection, Customer Service is not a big deal, as I can look up solutions on google with my Gprs on Vodafone, and thats how I resolved 99% issues with Reliance broadnet the rest one percent was a cable theft and switch failure;

Anyways, here my request

Please suggest If I should Go for Tata VSNL Wimax
I need uptime, good speed,
I am a freelancer and I have lost like 10K in teh last fifteen days thanks to the dumb f***ers at Reliance and SIFy
so help me quick,

And yeah Ramya how much is it for 384Kbps, what mode is it prepaid ?
I tried calling a number but never got connected, dont want to call their dumb service center, I need to find a local guy who deals with the installation and go through him,

I have been on Reliance broadnet for a long time now, unlimited 999 plan, and last month they had issues with local vendor so off they went, they still bill me for service !!!! I have a bill for 1200 including telephone charges !!! where as it wasn't working at all,
anyways this is for tata Wimax,

so yeah, i am on sify now it sucks, so wanting to try Tata VSNL Wimax,

need a few suggestions, from peopel already using, and ramya as you are from Hyd your opinion matters the most, I need a stable, and reliable connection, speed is needed but can sacrifice for stability, can't wait long for the connection though I have a sify Ul256 right now, so Yeah the pros and cons, especially from Hyd users, are a big thank you,

Looking forward to hear some good feedback, I really need something working,

ya i m using tata wimax from a week its working fine for me but speed is between 40-50KB/sec its ok speed .

it may depends on area i cant guarantee u its work fine for ur area .

they installed me in 2 days only but it is little costly

i m getting bill of 1150 per month includng taxes.

connectivity is good upto now but its been 10 days only i have taken.
even bsnl will be better .
speed fluctuates lot becouse of wimax connection in average ok speed i can say .

I figured out a local distributor for the tata Wimax thing,
before I land up in his office which is in CTC, Parklane,

@40-50Kbps you mean the download rate you get on a torrent right?
how about speed test results,

I am sure some one else might be using the wimax in my neighborhood, , so I need to do some probing. I will wait for another week, i have this sify crap for another 22days ! so if I can get the wimax in time will be cool;

anyone needs to get in touch with Tata VSNL Wimax provider in Hyderabad, there seems to be a Dealer in Chenoy Trading center aka CTC @ Parklane, I will post other info once I go to their office;
There seems to be some free printer offer, sounds like a desperate act, but if its HP as they claim, I can sell it on ebay

ramya you can call tata wimax cust care and they will provide you a free static IP, it will take about 24 hours to get an static IP but you can get that

Today i have joined in Tata WiMax users community at Hyderabad. Since signal strength is good at my area browsing speeds are better for me now.

using above am getting 400/170Kbps for 256 kbps connection. But file downloads varies on timely basis.

did static IP work?
it's been three days I am on 384kbps infinity;
touches 47kbps on Utorrent; my grooveshark player works awesome;
however speed fluctuates & the tower is only 9 meterts away technically
let me know if you found any way to get the speed fluctuation fixed, cheers.

yeah speed is very badly fluctuating, did you complain, I am planing to do if it doesn't work effectively,
I get 380 or 400 Kbps the moment I login, twenty minutes or so, the speed falls to a flat 167 or even worse 123 kbps, and thats irritating, sometimes it can be anywhere between 230 and 123.

Did you get the Static IP does that help?

and yeah Grooveshark is an awesome online music portal, I have actually deleted loads of music from my hard disk after finding this, its amazing place to listen to endless music, (international only) do a google search to find their url, but this portal needs minimum 240Kbps to work fine, and its a pain with the speed fluctuation

This is Adithya stays in Moti Nagar, Hyderabad. I am using Tata Wimax from last 4 days. I reason i have choosed Tata Indicom becoz of the download speed my friend is getting in Hyd suburbs. He uses 256kbps U/L and he gets a download speed of 75-80kB/S. I have taken speed test from speedtest.net and it shows 766kbps and upload speed like 158kbps. His signal strength is 24.

I gone mad looking at it and called customer care and the installation was done in 2 days.

Now i am getting a download speed of 28-30kB/s. In speedtest.net it shows 296kbps download and 162kbps upload.

I am still not getting how come he get such speed!

Technically i am getting the right speed, but why is Tata being partial to its customers?

Log a complaint to 60607070 if there any signal over-lapping between two base stations tata-wimax, generally if they found such case action will be taken by them self. try to use download manager to boost the download speeds. it works well for me.

which download accelerator u use?

And what are you saying about complaint. Should i complain on my friend that he is getting higher speeds? If yes what should i quote to recognize him?

Guys... You have to realize that Wimax is nothing but an expanded range Wifi connection/service. Speed and quality of connection will depend on the number of users logged on in the area. Both are inversely proportional. More users Less Speed, Less Users More Speed.

I had a Tata Indicom wired Broadband connection for over a year. Believe me, unless you can fix your own issues when the connection is down or you have a problem then dont go for it. They don't know what customer service is, it is non existent.

I switched over to Airtel Broadband 4 months ago. 2 Mbps connectio with 15 GB data limit. The connection is great, stable speeds and mpst of all amazing and effective customer service. If your issue cannot be resloved over the call, you have an executive at your house the next day to resolve the issue.

Finally the choice is yours.... Cheers!!

your 30kB/s=30*8kbps as B=Bytes=8 bits(b)...so basically ur both talking about the same speeds

hi ramya even i stay in hyderabad first apply for wimax ,the installation guys will cum and install and then they will check the speed if the speed is fine at that time then no problem u can go for it , if its not working fine then tell them i dont want and apply and take ur check back ,they will make false promises that they will increase ur speed and all that **** dont listen to them

i recommend you to take TATA wimax if you want to enjoy browsing the web
If you are intrested in downloading many ig files,films i recommend you for taking 2Mbps connection speed or else to apply for TATA download booster (after taking wimax connection) to download at 4x speeds only at nite and little extra amount per month

Basically they offer 384 kbps as minimum

Try finding aboout BSNL usb HUB for internet
instrument=Rs 2000+
monthly rental =Rs550
speed=2Mbps
new in the market
2Mbps usb is good
would recommend this too but may be a bit unstable sometimes (plug-and-play device)
