Thread: the best wi-fi router to use with tata wimax??

Hey guys,

I'm fairly new here and i need some help to pick and configure a wifi-router. I have Tata BB on wi-max with 512 UL. Decided to give my annoying sister some cheer and i want to hook up the desktop along with my primary laptop with the BB.

Please provide details with the router to buy which works best with tata and I would also be greatful for some help in configuring it. If there are detailed posts already, to help with the configuration , i could use some help with the link as well.

I use a netgear with my tata wimax connection and its been working fine... was about 1 thousand rupees dont remember exactly.

hey admin... From where you get the netgear wireless router for one thousand rupees.... Plz do temme .....n yaa...i am also from delhi.... Plz provide me with ur mobile no. Coz i have got some networking probz.... And i am not that good at networking...so may be i wud ask u for a help.... Plzzzzzzzzz.....

I use a D-Link DIR-300 router and is very simple to configure.. and needless to say, its working fine.. no hassles since about a month atleast. Bought is for Rs. 1800

Linksys.. pretty stable.. gives a good range across walls and floors.. it does renew the dynamic IP automaically.. with netgear i ahd to manually refresh i..

Tata Indicom is one of the worst service provider.... Get rid of this ASAP

hey all the question was whihc router is best with TATA BB, well the reply is , u can take any of the follwoing depending on how deep yr pocket is and secondly what kind of range u are looking at. Some of the options i have listed below

Linksys WRT54G2, if u have money u can go for there Wirless N router range
Netgear
D link

and many other, all owrh well howver u should know how to configure these.

Any Wifi router will do, unless you have requirements of high speed game (Unlikely as this is a gift to your sister)

Linksys, Netgear.. etc any wifi router will do (Make sure they have good coverage area, confirm with sales rep)

If your connection is postpaid and unlimited, you will be eligible for the static IP criteria, which will be provided to you free of cost.
Call Tata helpdesk and request for a static IP,they will be helping you to configure your connections. Once done replicate same settings onto your router. Browsing will be breeze and there should be no disconnect.
