Default How to share Single Internet Connection between a Desktop and a laptop using a Hub?

    Hi All,
I am having a Desktop and a laptop. I need to share the internet connection between these two. I had bought a Hub(5 port Fast Ethernet Switch). There is a 6 ports(including up-LINK). When i was trying to connect internet is not coming. Both system and laptop are detected and 2 static IP are assigned to them. But they are not getting the dynamic IP's. When i use the box given by tata the net is coming up. When i use the new one the net is not coming not even for one system. I know there are other posts, bit can anyone explain step by step how to get net for the two systems in steps as i am new to networking.... TIA

    Dear Shravan,

My knowledge of Hubs and swtiches are limited. However it seems you have to check your DHCP settings.
I also use a desktop and laptop with Tata wimax connection. I have a linksys wifi router (Set up for DHCP) and desktop is connected through lan cable and laptop through Wifi, easy and convenient.

Also, if you have a postpaid connection with Unlimited plan you may be eligible for static IP. Tata provided me a static ip upon request. Now there is no wb dialer page and browsing has become breeze
