I got a new postpaid 750 flash connection and thats what I am using right now and run torrents day and night and ftp.. get about 1.3-1.4mbps speed which I believe is fairly acceptable.

How are you checking your speed? I normally run 4-5 torrents at one time and check the total speed.
Try utorrent and download a few torrents and leave them running for 5-10 mins and then check the speed once it gets stable and see what you get.. I am sure you would see a far better performance as compared to what you would get while downloading from a single server even if its from the Microsoft server or some open source community... to use your connection to the max you need to have to download simultaneously from different sources to check out the full potential of your own connection.

Even i have changed my plan to Flash plan now but there is no speed difference as it would be effective from next billing date.

Please check with Tata Customer Care of login to your Tata Indicom Broadband My Account to check your billing date and current plan.

I have received the mail from TATA Indicom for upgrading the plan to Flash.
They are offering night surfing @1Mbps+ at half of its price in addition to the regular subscribed plan.

Is it really working as they have promised?

Default Flash 384

Hi, Earlier I was in Infinity 384 PLAN. Last month, I have upgraded my plan to FLASH 384 . This is effective from this month's billing cycle and also reflecting in my tariff plan . According to this plan I should get 1.5 mbps on Sunday and from 10pm to 8 am every night .However i haven’t seen any improvement in my internet speed after 10:00 pm. I have measured my download speed with varoius tools available in internet but stiil it is not even reaching the speed of 384 kbps
which is the normal speed for this plan during peak hours (08:00am - 10:00pm).
I have sent a mail to Customer care along with the screen shots. Have anybody faced a similar issue..????

Hi nibir.mudai. Try logging off by around 8:10 PM and relogin after 5 minutes. Usually the reset to 1.5 mbps will not be automated. You need to manually log off and reconnect after 5 or 10 minutes. TRY THIS and please update. Thank you

Hi, Thanks for the suggestion. The same thing clicked my mind as well. I have already tried logging off - logging in and renewing my IP a couple of times. However no progress in this regard.

on first day of my plan i got stable 1.8Mbps speed till 1AM and between 1AM to 5AM it went up to 2.5 - 3.5 at times. At 5AM my average speed for day was showing 2.2Mbps and Max speed was 4.5Meg (as per graph)

Will monitor connection for at least one week before recommending anything here.

Hi chinncoffee, I called up TATA CC today and they asked me to call at night after 10:00 pm to check the speed. I logged in after 10:00 pm again and checked the speed. The download speed was far less than normal speed ~ 384kbps. I called the Customer Care again at around 10:40 pm. One lady answered my call and she asked me to delete all the cookies and offline files and then reset the browser web settings. I was wondering how deleting cookies can increase my download speed to 1.5 MBPS Then she asked me to open the URL of "Tata Indicom Speed Test" and test the speed and the result was Download Speed: 199kbps and Upload Speed: 100 kbps.
She asked me to test the same a couple of times but no improvement. She then transferred my call to the Network Team and a guy answered the call. He asked me to open IE and then asked me to check the speed again using the same link. I checked it but again no improvement. Kept asking me to check the same again and again. Finally he told that he will reset the network from his end and asked me to test again. This time the upload speed did shoot up to 3.9 MBPS but download speed was still the same Then he finally gave me a complaint number and told that the issue will be escalated to Technical team and they will check from the server end, which they will resolve within 24 hrs. I will post the update shortly once i hear from them. Btw I have got Airtel DSL Broadband as well, with speed 2 MBPS which is quite consistent.

Hi nibir.mudai. Good that you registered a complaint and make sure you follow it up. When the sooo called technical guy arrives at your place, make sure you are present and watch what exactly he does. I will not be surprised by the fact that he will waste time by checking signal strength and also which BS [Base Station] it is connected to. Anyways, all you need is 1.5 mbps solution and until unless it is not resolved, the tech guy is not going anywhere.

Airtel is always a primary option, if and only if its FEASIBLE. I am currently using 8Mbps AIRTEL. Honestly, it depends on each requirement and 2Mbps is a GREAT value for money product.

PERSONAL OPINION - Dont spend too much time bothering about TATA Wimax, bcoz of the fact it has (google) 1 followed by 100 zeros amount of problems . Time is money and you can use it for better resources.

I will definitely post upload speeds.

You Take Care. Thanks

Hi, I am using Tata Wimax as a redundant connection which will serve my purpose in case i face any issue with Airtel. Primarily I am using Airtel to work on VPN and Tata for download purpose as Airtel 2 MBPS (Speed 1199) is a limited plan. Last week I had a bad experience with Airtel as well. My phone number got changed all of a sudden and internet was down. Finally came to know that the installation team had changed my DP by mistake while installing another connection. But, the same was resolved within 12 hours.
Next update about my Tata Wimax is that, i logged in today morning at 07:45 am to check the speed and I was getting something between 1.2-1.5 mbps (Seems that the Tata guys did something from back end).
However the Tata speed test URL shows around 1.6 mbps (download speed) and the upload speed is just shoots like anything which is not a realistic one (more than 5 MBPS). I has tested the same with other tools and found that Tata speed test URL doesn't actually show the correct value, particularly for the upload speed. I continued monitoring the speed and exactly at 08:02 hrs, the speed dropped to around ~ 334 kbps. Now i need to check the same again tonight at 10:00 pm.

WOW...finally, some good news. Try using - 203.124.230.89/speed/ for speed test. I think you should be able to get some realistic values

I myself am trying to setup an RDP server [VMware Server] and yes STATIC IP from AIRTEL costing me nearly 2500 annually. I will update this provided information bcoz I am quite not sure how true is it. Till then,

Hi, I am not able to open the link with the IP provided by you. Please let me know the complete URL. Well, the update is that today also my speed didn't cross 384 kbps after 10:00 pm. Tomorrow I am going to blast those guys and escalate to Nodal officers (if not resolved). They failed in their commitment of 24 hrs already. Even they didn't care to call back and update me. This time I am not going to pay a penny more than what i have got. Tata Indicom sucks at the end of the day. It's like using a Second-Hand car (Always gives one or the other problem). Just now I wasn't able to login after entering the credentials. It said Account is inactive. What hopeless fellows. Their session remains active for more than 16 hrs in their server even after logging out. Thankfully, the plan is not limited. Guys who are planning to go for FLASH 384, just think once again!!

Hi nibir.mudai...welcome to TATA HATRED CLUB...

Any ways for the speed test link...try googling "tata speedtset" and the first result found is the link. PIC ATTACHED

The SECOND HAND CAR example is good one

Dont pay a single penny and stop wasting time with these [TATA] bunch of fools. Work with AIRTEL is a smart option.

Hey...tomorrow dont forget to

This is the kind of speed i am getting in the nights..
Tata Back End guys say its enough as it is upto 1.5mbps and u will 80% of the speed.
Is this acceptable?
I see users getting around 1.3-1.5 mbps.
Any suggestions on how should i go about this issue.
Day speeds are fine.Problem are with night speeds
@admin - tried downloading 4 fully seeded torrents simultaneously.Speed observed was just under 1mbps.

P.S. : I have a 750 kbps power flash plan which offers 1.5 mbps on sunday and at nights

Default Flash 384

10 days over!! Today they have sent me the Broadband bill of the month with new plan charges. But the issue is not yet resolved. I have escalated to nodal officer as well. But no clear revert till now when the issue will be closed. Tata Indicom is all FAKE and making business by cheating their customers. Today i was getting Download speed of 176 kbps at 12:12 am when tested with the Tata Indicom speed test URL. I am planning to terminate the connection very soon as it's NO MORE FOR SURE!!
