    Default Tata Wimax connection termination notice

    I recieved an e-mail a few days ago saying my Tata wimax connection will be discontinued from 18th of September. I called up Tata's customer care and they said they do not have any information on this and if there is anything in future they will give me a call and I forgot about it but about half an hour ago I got a call from Tatat Indicom saying My broadband connection will be terminated on the 18th September. I tried my best to find out why are they doing this and couldn't get anything out of the guy who called me because all he had to say was due to some technical and business consideration.



    I said to him what about my 30 day notice and he said I was sent an e-mail and I said but when I called up your call center they asked me to ignore that e-mail so in reality I did not have 30 days time because this is the first time you are telling me that you cannot provide me broadband service any more.

    Apparently this is just for some Newdelhi customers... Any one else got a call?

    Hi,

    I also Got it, I live in Mohali. I think the TATA Wimax is turning out to be a failure as it is not able to get subscribers. In my area I am the only one in 2KM Square who is using TATA WIMAX. There service was Expensive but was worth I used it for two years but never got a problem.

    At last i got a reason to go for another option i had Infinite 384kBps. the speed was very consistent even during the day time. I got that plan for Rs 1103 including Taxes. But now i have opted for Local HFCL Infotel (Connect BroadBand) and got 1Mbps + 50 STD Calls Unlimited for Rs 1100 hope it woks the same way as TATA Wimax used.

    I also got news form the TATA guy that they starting some sort of Leased Lines, don't know what that it . Costing more than Rs 5000 Per month for startup plan.

    Anyways Good Luck TATA Wimax. will continue it till 19th sept and then TATA

    Talk about broadband revolution and broadband service providers are going bust due to lack of customers.

    I was so happy with this tata wimax connection and now all of a sudden they realise they dont have enough customers for this to be a viable business They didnt need extra towers as the BTS is on the same mobile towers and they dont need extra back up generators or anything..

    I dont think it makes any business sense to get rid of so many customers... Why not look at what went wrong why are you not getting enough customers? Why are you not able to pull customers from other ISPs? There must be something wrong somewhere in your marketing chain.

    Tata's are probably thinking that wimax customers will eventually switch to tata photon but that's just a dream that wouldn't come true because home broadband connection needs to be stable and reliable which tata photon is not and I cannot work with a tata photon connection.

    Wow..(Sorry, admin) but finally Tata back to the sorrows again. I was using Tata Broadband through Wireline for almost 2 years, then shifted to Wimax probably when they just started and using it from 18 months or so. I was paying 3600rs for 360 hours just to get 2mbps speed when other providers never thought of providing it. I subscribe to the night plan for 300extra bucks too.

    Due to the lack of customer service and bad support, almost 100 connections in my area wrote a letter to Tata to settle this, even we had some meetings.

    Finally, we all have decided to shift our connection to Airtel. It was not available in our Area earlier. I remember my post few months back, about the bad service and changing my connection to some other provider as there is no support etc with the Wimax services here. I really don't understand the reason why there are downtime's with Wimax technology.

    Finally, Tata started loosing customers on a big roll I think. Most of our society members shifted to Airtel. My plan is still active till September 13, 2010. Just two days back, I wasted my balance of Tata wimax by ordering some useless stuff @picsquare like a bunch of chocolates for 500bucks and stupid key chains etc which can be paid through the balance in broadband account just to finish it off.

    I have not received any email, nor my friends regarding the discontinuation of Wimax services as of now. However, the real fact is Tata lost many customers due to the avoidance of providing good customer support.

    Just a 2-3 week back, after complaining for a month a Tata representative came to reinstall the Box's and change the CPE of 5 houses in our Area. Guess what, we all simply said "NO" we don't want it now as its the best time to change the service provider.

    Admin, you probably getting good services with Tata. That's why you feel like why they are shutting down. I am still not sure this can be true but the real fact is they have lost so many customers in the span of 3-4 months.

    Wish they continue to provide services to those like you, where they can provide some customer support.

    Do keep me updated with the latest news, because this gonna make some frustrated customers happy in our Area.

    the problem is that there are downtimes because of tatas bad service they dont have trained technicians who know what is signal strength and all that stuff and they are putting the blame of downtime on wimax saying that it is a bad technology

    I still received an email from Tata to recharge my broadband account. Admin, are you sure they are gonna disconnect the services of Wimax. I think its probably in your area. Any comments on this ?

    I have not recieved such notice as such. and in my case it worked perfectly ok from the time i was shifted to wimax from wireline. the cpe failed 15 days back and was replaced with 4 hours of my complaint.

    Hope TATA continues Wimax services else i would have no option but to shift to MTNL ( which i dont want to) or Reliance Wimax

    This is complete shock, First some Guy from back-end calls me saying that your connection will be disconnected on 19th Sept. so i went for Local HFCL which is good for personal use but not for professional use. I am a web developer so i need Reliable service, HFCL doesn't turn out to be good.

    Now when i got this connection, I planned to disconnect from TATA. But Again the TATA guy calls in by saying that your connection won't be disconnected on 19th Sept so you can freely use TATA wimax till 31 March (After that they will discontinue the service). I got Happy and sad both as i have now 2 Internet connection costing Rs 1100 each. The HFCL is unreliable but long lasting and quite fast where as TATA wimax is Bit slow when comapred to HFCL but is Very Reliable.

    This month has been Bad i am in a Dilemma, what to choose and what not to.I will be paying Rs 1100 Extra I only have one computer and i can use only one out of the two.

    This is INSANE, why was i mislead. If you are not disconnecting then why are you giving me a shock.

    I hope there was an ALIEN Technology to use the Internet rather than going for these Unreliable and corrupt ISP's.

    I haven't had any down time for so many months now and hate the fact that Tata wimax connection will be terminated on the 19th this month.

    I called up Tata customer care again to make sure if my connection is going to be terminated and they confirmed that it will not work after the 19th and they do not have an explanation why.. just calling it a business decision.

    I believe it has something to do with the tower being illegal or may be excess radiation which the government authorities have started picking up on lately... Or may be their poor marketing of wimax connection which led to low sales.

    It is hard to believe they are shuting it down due to lack of customers because they do not need more infrastructure investments or on going expenses either because everything goes on the same mobile phone tower which already have power back up and stuff in place. May be they are hoping that all the customers will buy a tata photon usb modem when they loose their wimax connection.

    I have not received any notice as of now. I called the customer care and they told me that no such information regarding the disconnection of services has been disclosed

    Though, My plan will be deactivated within 4-5 days. I think they are not disconnecting customers all over. They are specific to some areas where the customer base is less.

    This will come to conclusion when the deadline reaches as mentioned by you i.e. September 19.

    @Admin, you should probably start looking for another service provider now.

    Even few localities in Hyderabad also the wimax service is being romoved a i too got a call and they said they will be closing wimax in our area, and the explantion was it was business and technical reasons, now the question is will they generate bill for this 18 days of this month? and also i asked them to send me an email which they did not send, be careful when someone comes to take the CPE box, unless you have an email which says that the CPE will be removed after sep 18 you should not allow any person from TATA to do that ..they may tell that they did not send any person ..something the cost of CPE is 7000, they may send another bill for 7000 or a legal notice, so unless you get offical email to surrender there CPE ... dont do that.. I am really upset with there service termination as it was the best internet connection i have used in last 10 years.. flash 384 plan ..simply was good with 70 gb Fair usage policy and in last one year i have had only 2 times tech problems... other than that ..i never had any problems...

    are they really giving free till march 31st 2011? in the areas where they are removing services?? if they dont remove CPE box and if it still connects to thier network then .. if it still works...then greatttttttttttttttt

    It's true, that some of the users received notice of 7k for not returning the box of CPE. My plan has been disconnect now, and I am not going to return the CPE box to Tata at any cost.

    I wish to see the notice they gonna send to me in few months. My real brother is a lawyer and it would surely be a fun.

    BTW: I confirmed that the Tata wimax is still available in my area. So, they are doing this via area specific.

    No. I got a call from Tata today to renew my connection. I told them I am not going to renew it and I would like to terminate the services.

    He asked the reason and was giving explanations

    It means they are disconnecting there service in some areas.

    Default 1400 connection to be removed in hyderabad

    I called them up today and asked why it was being done, they said same old story business and technical problems, and i asked are they doing becoz they have closed new Flash plans registrations and want to get rid of all flash accounts who get 1.5 mbps in night, they are confused people, it was my best broandband experience in so many years used it for 18 months now... now i am going for bsnl BB Home Combo ULF 1350 , 2 mbps for first 20 gb and there after 512kbps .. using this also if i have system on for 30 days continuious i can still download 150 GB as there is no limit on download, as other providers have only thing is after first 20 gb i will get a reduced speed of 512, even with 512kpbs i can download 4 gb in 24 hours.. no problems... so tata to tata services.

    Unhappy With TATA wimax gone, I'm not sure of an ISP in my area.

    I have been a customer of TATA wimax since 2008 and its been a worrying news for me that they are wrapping up the business. My neighbour too has the same connection as mine. Incidentally, Tata seems to have called my neighbour and informed that they could renew the connection later. I don't understand this thing... And now Neerajvohra(junior member who posted here) says he too received a similar call.

    I am a Delhite living in the old city of Hyderabad for property concerns and unfortunately Reliance and BSNL said they don't have feasibility to provide wireline in my area few months back and i have doubts about Wimax availability. News is out that not just TATA but Reliance Wimax too would follow the TATA way. I have however sent fresh requests to Reliance, Airtel and BSNL and awaiting their response. Today is my last day with TATA and half of my life is set on the net... This is giving me goosebumps as I am in a bad position here. Will I get an internet connection ever?

    Are there any other service providers in Hyderabad that are reliable? I need a minimum 256kbps unlimited data connection.


    Please help me.

    I am still receiving renewal calls from crap Tata wimax. I wrote an email to Tata customer care and Nodal officer.

    Please disconnect my Tata broadband (Wimax) connection. Stop the F*** calls from your F*** department. I don't want to continue services anymore. Thanks for providing pathetic, crap services.

    Let me know if anything is needed from my end.

    Yes they disconnected my connection on the 19th of september and no one ever turned up to collect the CPE but today they sent me a bill of 1300 something saying I is for the 1st sep to the 19th but my billing cucle starts on the 20 and I had already paid till 20th of sep.. the lady I spoke to had no clue and kept repeating the same thing and in the end I had no choice but to hang up...

    I have had extremely bitter experience with Tata sky recently and I am yet to write a review on it and now Tata wimax asking for more money for no reason.

    Tata sky and Tata wimax... both should be barred from doing business in India and all their employees be sent to Antartica to spend rest of their lives there!

    We have some one from Tata indicom on our forum I couldn't find that id... Does anyone know the id? I would like to see if they can resolve my issues and if not they are of no use in that case and I would prefer to delete that id instead of letting them do a face saving exercise here on our forum.

    Are they going to terminate only flash plan users???

    What if i change my plan to normal one...will they still terminate my account???

    So, finally they did what they actually are. Stupid bastards

    I hate the fact they are still providing services. I have already disconnected my connection. I was aware they gonna send you the bills and then you have to make effort to resolve this.

    I was lucky, using prepaid connection else they gonna bump my ass with 3600rs. While my internet was disconnect, they were still sending me emails, calls to renew. I hv told them many times, stop bugging me else I am going to consumer court.

    To return the CPE box, I called customer care 3 times, 3 emails to cc and 2 emails to nodal. Finally, someone came with ID card, and take away the dibba called it as CPE. I have taken necessary documents that I have returned the box. Still, i'm sure they gonna send me a notice to return the box stupid peoples.

    Terminate you will get better options than Tata services.

    Perhgaps they wont take back your STB.
    But sure they would take back the dish, LNBC and the interconnecting RF cable.

    Hey Admin....

    I had all my bills paid by visiting their office and it was calculated by them in total till the day of disconnection. They said it was all done and the only thing due was the Premises Equipment.. Their boy turned up in long curly hair, cheap Village Fair goggles in the dark night, strong perfume, baggy pants, a football fan t-shirt with a jacket on and a baseball cap! All prepared and decorated to remove the Equipment 4 hours late at 7:30 in the evening! lolol.. But I must mention that he was a modest guy and very apologetic so I helped him with the work. This was 9 days after the services went down.

    TATA Wimax guys sent me a bill next month for under 100 rupees! I called up the customer service to inquire what it was about and they had no answer.. The agent said that he could see the account closed, all paid up and I asked him why it doesn't show that way in the e-mail they sent me? I expressed my concerns about the company piling it up at a later date with interest and sending me a huge bill to pay with Legal Notices attached. The agent said I should send the customer service an e-mail to confirm and that he wasn't too sure in this case.

    I emailed about this and also asked them to stop spamming my mail with Advertisements regarding sale of chocolates, candles and stuff like that(I know it's weird!). My mail consisted an appeal for them to reply and confirm whether the unfounded charges have been reverted as these made no sense.. What charges when the payment has been made and Equipment taken away?

    They never replied but from the next month onwards the bills have stopped too.. mmm.. The spamming hasn't stopped yet though! Anybody wants Chocolates, Candles and Jute Hankies or an Aircraft with "Daddy's Gift" printed on it? Chunnu munnu and tunnu's papa di gaddi(NANO) is available too for a discount with WIMAX POWER printed on it...

    Anybody?....

    No....?
