Thread: Tata wimax broadband connection

I filled out the form to apply for broadband on the tata indicom website two days ago and today two guys came to my place from Tata and offered a tata wimax connection... All this after I made so many attempts to get a reliance wimax connection and the last thing I heard from Reliance wimax local dsa was that they dont have any equipment with them and will take another one monthy if not more..

The guys who came from Tata were very professional and they kind of knew what they were talking about.

I applied for a 512kbps unlimited connection for which I paid Rs5366 in total and this includes 3 months advance rental and Rs500 as installation charges.

There is no contract or anything so I can discontinue the connection if there are issues whic cant be resolved.

I have been promised that they will install the connection within 3-4 days although they said it might take upto one week.

Will keep you guys updated on how it goes

Do you have a link to the web site? I could not find Wimax on their site.

I feel that TATA Wimax ppl are much more professional than reliance
After i disconnected Reliance wimax due to all the technical problems. i opted for Tata wimax, but i taught that tata guys will be as bad or worst to reliance, but it turned out to be the opposite

I have tata wimax connection for about 3 months now and it has hardly gone down.

It went down once but the technical support was able to resolve the issue "on the same call" which was a big surprise to me. Now when ever it goes down i know the troubleshooting steps and the steps works every time and my connection come up

I am happy with Tata wimax and the speed is also constant , i am using 384 kbps unlimited plan

The dont have different tariff's for wimax and adsl.. both modes have same price plans.

m also getting the same connection now.. will apply tonite or by tommorow

m not gonna call sify anymore now... already called up so many time that vodafone is about to add sify number in my friends and family group to provide cheaper calls at 10paisa per minute

Glad to learn about Tata Wimax now available in Delhi. Will inform my friends too about it. i have been using it for three weeks infact i have started logging myexperiences on tataindicomwimax.blogspot.com , Overall i am more than Happy with the connection and Services.

Alright ... The tata wimax guys are here and running up and down the stairs searching for a good signal..

Any cautious notes? or any signal strength or anythign to take care of before they run away....

I might be a little late but
when they came to my house they found a signal which was showing 26 which is really good, 28 is the max you can get

But he installed at some thing showing 17, after he went, i took work in my own hands, found the 26 signal direction and was working fine

recently i saw that now it is showing just 19 but the connection is very stable no issue seen till now, occasional the signal goes dead but i reboot to factory default and add the 4 base station and it starts working again

Mine CINR err i dont recall what that is called , mine is anway 29 , they say it should be above 21 that's a good signal.

I will make sure they set it in a direction where I get atleast 20 strength then

hmm how did you arrive at the Max value since i get 29 signal strength.

I never knew that we had a tata wimax tower about 30 metres from where I live clear line of sight

I cant wait for this thing to get up and running... I will downgrade sify to the cheapest package they do for backup connection in case tata decided not to work some day

Cool !!! i have seen a stable connection since the day it arrived, i have already applied for the disconnection with BSNL and also i am thinking of disconneting the GSM based connection from Vodafone.

god forbid if things go wrong , I can fallback to BSNL's good old dialup anyway!! as a backup.

Alright I am using Tata wimax now I checked speed by downloading a 50 mb file from rapidshare and I was getting a constant 65kB/sec a 512kbps connection cant get any better if this is the speed I am going to get every day...

I guess its time for sify to get a kick in the back side

get a list of things you always wanted to do with a stable connection and start leeching ;-)

I applied for a connection yesterday and called their agent in Bangalore. I already am an existing Tata Indicom subscriber and have a dial up internet subscription since the past 10 years. This I use as a back up in case my current broadband fails or if there is no electricity at home.

I am currently using You Telecom cable broadband and am on a 256 K Unlimited plan. This costs me Rs. 1300 inclusive of taxes every month, which I felt is high. As far as user experience and reliability, I would give them a rating of 2.5 on 5 for user experience and 3 on 5 for reliability. I have used their services from the past 18 months or so.

But, coming back to Tata Indicom WiMAX, I was pleasantly surprised to see a moderate recommendation about the QoS. Do let me know if there is anything that I need to be aware in the WiMAX angle from Tata Indicom.

Tata Indicom Broadband internet service and support is really bad – Don’t buy !

In past 3 months my net service worked for just 30 days. The mails sent to tata indicom customer care team were not responded to for week at a time. Their nodal officer is gutless freak who says that no matter if service was not there.. I will be charged.
Its in their policy – No Refund!

I have exchanged some 200 mails and the copy paste working is inhuman. The response I get from them is way off the mark. They have retards working in their team who have been assigned incentive to harass customers .

They don’t understand the word refund or disconnect! Their server shows me logged in even when their line is not connected!Isn’t that hilarious? I mean, if I can get net without their line, why the hell will I need to pay them?

Their engineers are great ! They have been ringing my door ball at 6:30 in the evening!
I don’t know what they do the whole day ! They close the service calls at their end and tata indicom seems to be helpless. I keep filing complaints and they either ignore them or close the calls without even checking up!

As a customer you will be required to coordinate between the customer service and engineer yourself, and damn , you won’t get paid for it either .
I was denied refund or disconnection! My fault – I asked the damn service to be removed as it was not working for 2 weeks and there was no response from their team !

Just imagine – Tata indicom charging all its customers on daily basis , even when they do not provide services . Isn’t it shocking! A policy that states that there will be no refund! Even when there is no service?
They play around to show usage on customer account to justify the charges! Damn, my system was not even switched on for a whole week!

After wasting many a hours sending mails and trying to show them some reason , I have finally stopped . I just want you to avoid such a service company and place your hard earned money elsewhere ! With Tata indicom you will only suffer nd get cheated . Tata indicom is a fraud company . Avoid it at all cost !

All said and done – I just want to warn you – Please don’t go for tata indicom internet broadband services. It’s pathetic.
