Make sure you test it properly before they leave.
When it is connected log out using their tataindicombroadband.com site and then turn off the modem wait for 5 mins... Restart pc and turn power on for the modem and connect it yourself and see if it connectes or not...
Only let them go when you are 500% satisfied as getting them back at your home is not an option ....
I am browsing on tata wimax connection and its working fine for now... tried downloading using torrents and I am getting 60KB/sec + speed on utorrent.
Its the customer service that is just too crap.
By the way they refused to extend my accounts validity by the number of days my connection was downI will have to make some more phone calls I guess...
why they are not providing refund for the day's when you was unable to connect and it was not your issue as the setup was faulty. What is the explanation behind this act of not providing refund
They say if the equipment goes faulty its customers problem not theirs...
I guess Ratan tata is saving up for his bad days ahead .... Why loot my little hard earned money
By the way I left torrents running over night and there was no disconnection... Didnt get logged out either unlike sify... If this connection continues to behave like this it would be great![]()

I am sure that in their call center they have put a notice saying who ever takes Parminder's call is allowed to go home for the rest of the day to get their stress levels down ... Ive been passing on all the frustration to tata wimax employees... Why just keep my money... take the stress as well which comes with the package.
There is more to come as they are refusing to extend my account validity. I will keep calling untill I get results...

Today I got a call from Tata Wimax at 11am to confirm installation time and Venue (question tata executive asked me was: sir ye connection aapkae ghar par lagega kya and my reply was, nahi nahi ye to mainae apnae padosi kae liyae liyae hai jaao uskae ghar lagaa aao.) FIrst they called me 2 days late and after that asked such a great question
After that 2 Tata Service Techies appeared at my place and asked for all the basic things like where is your terrace (my reply: just you down you will find it somewhere near by my silver bike) It took them 2 hours to install Wimax outdoor CPE there on a pole (please check pic of outdoor CPE)
Just to install such a small thing on pole it took them about 2 hours after that i checked it to make sure everything is on place <satisfied>
then came to my room where the i got my computer, I swear the very first question sify engineer asked me "sir ismae network connections kahaan hai"while in shocked i said plz type ncpa.cpl in run box
again took them about 2 hours to register my login name on vsnl.net and to start up my connection.
Finally this Tata Wimax Started working with best signal strength wich is 62/62 and the great thing Tata Tower is just about 200mtr away from my Outdoor CPE so getting full signal here, its like signal tower kae neechae surfing (i remember once admin said this which is true in my case)
Tommorow will update a pic of tata tower which is visible from my home
Till now i am getting constant speed which is above 256 kbps on 256UL plan and transfer rate on utorrent is between 35-40kbps without and disconnection or logoff due to time out.
Till now its not giving any problems![]()

My connection is working fine as well and they have put back only 8 days validity into my account but th downtime was 11 days... I will let Ratan keep that much ... may be he can buy himself a cup of coffee... dont worry Ratan you can keep the change aswell
My connection is ok and I am getting about 85-90% of the promised speed which is still ok![]()
same here but need to reboot this **** after evey 24 hours or so.. i started torrent download before leaving for work at 40kbps transfer rate and when i came back it was at downloading at a great speed of 2kbps (transfer rate). Did power cycle and got the speed back again![]()
I have not rebooted the modem ever since the tata wimax guy left ... I do get logged out after say 10-12 hours or so not too sure havent kept track and just have to log back in... It would be great if there was some auto login thing
My speed doesnt drop and stays above 55KB/sec at all times on torrents... I have about 15 of them running so get the max speed.
Upload speed goes above 45KB/sec some times but stays at 35-40 most of the time.
same here my speed is also not dropping but don't know why they don't have dialer everytime need to login from IE
tell me one more thing, have you checked that after 8am these tata nuts are blocking ports to restrict torrent downloads what are you doing about it

ya already checked all settings and even tried lot many different ports too and apart from that i don't think its a problem with setting coz at nite it works fine with 35-40kbps transfer rate but after 8am it goes dead like anything about 2-4kbps
do you think i need to add some ports in my firewall or something
Its 2 mins past 8 now ... has your speed dropped? I just checked mine and its still running fine at about 60KB/sec
right now utorrent is closed coz already started direct download of 700MB at 7:45 and side by side downloading AOL 9.0VR on this new installed XP
I am great man know, if they will try to stop me from torrents i will go for direct downloads but in any case smart men wins the race![]()
I dont see any reason why mine would work fine and yours would drop... It might be just something temporary may be something with the tower or something..

Alright my connection is dead again same problem like before... it does not connect to the tower even though the signal strength is 26-27

better if you try reboot option from CPE info that same 169.254.1.1 address
coz the same problem happend with me in morning and i did that, it started working fine after that and how about ubuntu now, installed it or not![]()
I am unable to connect from last 2 days nowyesterday called tata for 5 times and there is no one to take my sup call and no one to call me back for this stupid connectivity issue..
when i try to connect it say's username/ password incorrect already tried to change password still no joy. One tata assoicate said that my account is inactive but i really don't know why

I get this problem aswell ... dont change your user name and pass just keep trying and it will connect fater 10-15 tries.
This normally occurs when I try to login using Ubuntu and after 10-15 tries it connects and works ok but then when I again switch to windows I again have to keep trying to 10-15 times.
Dont change password.
This is a problem at their end not our. Try logging out in one operating sys before you use the other one.
OK After hundreds of calls and wasting lots of my time which I could have used to do something productive I have managed to get the stinking tata wimax customer care to compensate my fully for the days lost due to down time.
Initially they even refused to extend my validity by the number of days which were lost... I had to send a lot of e-mails... even supervisors kept on refusing said it was my fault that the connection was down.
Ratan tata is getting paid in his own currency at Singur is all I can say.
These corporates need to be taught a lengthy lesson so they stop sucking our blood.
My connection is working fine now but to be honest I WOULD NEVER RECOMEND ANYONE TO GET A TATA WIMAX CONNECTION.
I have never had to call sify so many times... Sify customer care has always been prompt in providing the compensation if connection goes down.
What goes around comes around ..... Tata name will be wiped off the face of this earth in time to come if they dont mend their ways.. I feel like throwing up when I hear this name TATA... Such was the hard time they gave me... talking to their customer care is like hitting a brick wall.
Out of an Airtel connection and Tata wimax connection which would you say is better to go for, seeing that Admin had a a lot of problems with Tata wimax
Airtel all the way. Tata wimax is not something you would ever want to try even for free.
I have had so much trouble getting my 11 days validity put back into my account. First they only gave me 8 days in leu of the 12 days down time I had and that too after refusing first... they told me its my fault once the installation is done and they do not provide any validity for downtime.
After a lot of phone calls and e-mails they gave me 8 days instead of the 11 days downtime I had.. Then I sent a few more e-mails and a few phone calls and a couple of days back they gave me another 3 days which makes it 11 days in total.
My connection was down for 12 DAYS I will not call them again and would let Ratan buy his kids some sweets with that money. Its Rs47 something... Tatan bhai dont forget to leave a comment here on how your kids liked those sweets.
This is not the final word as its been less then a month since this connection was installed.. but till now whatever Ive been through my verdict is against Tata wimax and I will not advice anyone to get tata wimax connection.
