Question Where can I buy a WiMAX USB Dongle?

    Greetings, Forum members!

Can you please suggest where I can buy a WiMAX USB dongle in Bangalore?
Has anyone already bought any such device and what is the approximate cost for it? Also, if you can let me know the experience and if is available online anywhere on eBay or any electronic gadget portal.

This forum is excellent. Keep up the focused and high quality discussions. Kudos to you and the moderators for such a great job!

    Cheers,
    Srinivas

We dont have mobile wimax in India yet so there is no usb wimax stuff available yet.

You can get a tata wimax or reliance wimax connection but they are both fixed wireless connections and can only be used in the premises they are fixed at.

By the way both tata and reliance wimax are good fo nothing... Read my tata wimax review here : http://www.indiabroadband.net/tata-w...on-review.html (Tata wimax broadband connection review)

Well that is an interesting experience of yours with Tata Indicom. Let me see what happens in my case and how it goes. I hope I will break the experience jinx for many others

So why do these people give outdated technology? The IT secretary in Karnataka in the previous government, Mr. Vidya Shankar had made claims that the entire city would be WiMAX mesh enabled. How does he expect people to exploit the meshed bandwidth if there is no mobility ?!!!!

I would love to see mobile wimax being made available all across India like they have in Chile now..

I dont mind paying a few extra bucks to have that mobile broadband connection which would free me from sitting at one place all day long... It would be great if I could go to a coffee shop and type my day away sipping coffee and still be connected at broadband speeds.
I dont mind paying a premium for that matter..

If you need a mobile internet connection then Vodafone is a good idea as i like its plan and connectivity is good

for more details you can check vodafone portal but would like to add here that this dongle thing is good for travellers only for reading mails and surfing purpose and it can not solve your downloading purpose at all, if you will try to download any heavy file then may need to pay heavy charges for that, for home use fixed connections are better then these dongles

I have a reliance data card for that matter and its ok for checking important mails... browsing is slow and pages some times take ages to download where you dont have a strong signal.

    hi!

I'm work at the public University in my city.
So we have now our wimax network running.
We need to buy wimax usb dongles in order to let the professors get connected to internet trough our wimax network.
