it was a common problem on sify, someone used to take my ip. looks like someone is taking your ip, after your router obtains it(someone's hijacking connection).
it is due to the DHCP lease time most of the hotspot operators set the time to max 3 to 6 hours only but it should be approx 12hours as some time what happen you switch on your system you get one IP address u se it for some few minutes or hours after that you switch off the system so the same IP is free after 3 or 6 hours and it will be assigned to some one.
Now the case is that when you switch on your system again your system your sys request for the same IP what it have last time so DHCP assigned the same IP its not your fault its the blady DHCP server fault what they are using in their base station a DHCP server should ping the all IP before allowing the IP to the subscribers like commercial grade servers do but they are using ICS DHCP application which is a Linux based server and some are using Windows DHCP server these both server are not that much advanced as DHCP available in the Market but companies want to save the investment by utilizing the resources available freely on the internet.
The same problem is with Tata Wimax those have the dynamic IP plans like 380 kbps they face IP conflict
