This is my first post and it doesn't speaks good about Tikona

Hello All,

Recently I made a move, which I feel I should not have. I decided that it is time for me to give up my Reliance WiMax (400kbps) and opt for higher bandwidth connection at least 1 Mbps or more, as 1 Mbps with reliance is costly and I was fed up waiting for their DHCP servers to provide me an IP address..

So, I checked the availability of providers in my area and found 3 candidates. Sify, Tata Indicomm and Tikona.

After doing a bit of research on pricing (should have read this forum). I zeroed in for Tikona, I requested for a demo and the person who came to give demo couldn't impress me with the speed as he didn't had any user accounts for the speed I was looking for.

So, he rescheduled the demo for another day and came up with a new user name and password and a small round ball of WiFi receiver. This time he was able to show me the speed that I can get for 1 Mbps, and the account was hitting like 900 kbps, which I thought will be better after proper connection.

After formalities, the connection was installed without any hiccups and voila! I was browsing at a speed of 120 KB /PS. Very soon the good experience got over in just 2 days. The bandwidth started to get lower and I started getting 256-500 Kbps speed.

I contacted their cc and they said within 48 hrs my issue will be resolved. I waited and a guy came to resolve the issue. That guy was very sweet and full of ignorance, he was a human remote access for his senior engineers as he had to call his senior every now and then for advices.

After few tricks of the trade like

• Remove temp folder entries
• IE settings

He came to conclusion that bandwidth issue cannot be resolved and this conclusion was his own. So, he suggested that you should use this connection for another month or so and disconnect it later if I am not happy with this...hearing this I laughed at myself and thought what joker I have been...by opting for this connection.

Eventually I did not give up and encouraged this guy to speak with his senior and I also called up CC to update them about the proceedings. The cc guy put me on hold and suddenly this guy at my place received a call from his "camp". I don't know what happened internally but suddenly the bandwidth was back to normal...and this guy was more happy then me..

However, 2 days went by and suddenly everything went berserk again. This time the link became inactive. A new person came and tried his best and found out that the “Nano Station” and wire is bad…so they all needs to be changed.

Therefore, they were changed and I was back again with my 1 mbps connection. Now, suddenly when I was connecting the cable directly to my laptop, I was able to login, but after few seconds, their DHCP servers denied IP to me.

I thought I should connect it to my WiFi router to see how it goes, this time I was able to login, but the bandwidth I was getting was 512kbps..and then series of calls with cc and promises from them…nothing has improved till date.

This all has happened in the span of 13-14 days, wherein I have tried using this internet connection and have been successful only 7-8 times as I wanted it to be.

Recently out of curiosity I read about the founder of Tikona and found out he is an Ex CEO of Reliance Comm and has worked in various telecom companies. I guess if he wants his company to be like Comcast in US or any other big firms who thrive in for their customers, then he needs to figure out ways by which he can improve his customer experience. If he is able to match up even with Airtel, he will be successful in India People like us will come and go and we will always be like Lab-Rats initially for them to improve their services.

I may or may not be using this connection in future. However, I hope if any of their employees are reading this post may like to mention about this post if they have, something called customer satisfaction.

Thanks a lot for that insight !! I myself was contemplating on taking their 1Mbps connection but I've been reading here that they suck so was waiting for someone from Bangalore to check it out and post a feedback !!

Now that BSNL has doubled the speed of Ul750 and with your feedback post I don't think I'll ever consider them again!!

Btw how much is their 1Mbps ?

The 1Mbps costs Rs. 500 (Installation Charges, non-refundable) + Rs. 1399 (Monthly charges, exclusive of taxes).

I too joined this site to reply to a post that was talking stars about Tikona.

Its useless friends, it will NEVER work better.

They are not competent to provide what they talk.

Know what, the filed engineers who come are from a consultancy in Koramangala and they are not appointed by the company yet.

So, they have to rely on their n/w Bafoons @ Domulr to do all the basic TS (which never wrks)

I too had and am facing these issues till now.

I had a very good person who tried to solve the problem and told me straight that they SUCK !!!!

Yes, they said their office is in Domlur.

However, it is still a mystery, how bandwidth is halved when I am trying use it through my WiFi router..I guess they must have done some internal mapping to identify device type.

Or it could be a trick to promote their WiFi router, which they promoted initially. That router is available on a monthly rent. DOn't know.....need to go for a stable connection.

I am really very much upset with Tikona.. The connection is bad that I finally decided to cancel the connection within 2 months. I have opened a complaint that its getting disconnected ever 15 minutes and there is no response and I was surprised to see that the complaint I have filed is closed without my knowledge and concent on top of that they say that there is no problem from back end so we closed the ticket.

The beautiful feature of this connectio is the connection does not working from 11 in the night and when we call the tikona care they don't pickup the call I don't know how they wanted the competetion to be survived but they are least bothered about the customer. So there is no point in going for Tikona Connection as back up or a primary connection.

Hi All,

I have taken tikona connection 2 weeks back, I was able to connect without problem for just only one week, after that till today, the internet is not at all connecting in my PC. It always says limited or no connectivity. Hardly after enabling and disabling n number of times, for just 5- 15 minutes I may get the internet. After that again it disconnects. I am finding really a hard time. Have raised complaint to customer care, they told two times that engineer will come in 24 hours, but I never seen any engineer till now. I don’t know what’s wrong with this.

Can you please do something, else tell me the procedure to disconnect the tikona connection and refund the 1000rs money back.

I am staying in BTM Bangalore.

I am agree with all the complaints against TIKONA. I m using Tikona for nearly 6 months and I am not happy with my broadband speed, but plan charges are less that is why I am still using TIKONA. There are some problems with speed but I think this Tikona has more problems then other service provider. I called Toll free number 1-800-209-4276 to raised complaint, I came across one new options from Tikona i.e press 1 for technical support (I was accepting that this will not work) I followed the instruction to my surprise call was connected to Engineer, issue was resolved as there was some alignment issue, I was changing the position of CPE and the technical guy was guiding me that this is proper position as the device was catching maximum speed. Till know Net is working fine, hope this will continue. I am thankful for your assistance

I posting it because one tends to hear only bad rap on these forums

I am not affiliated with tikona. In fact, I have burnt money on Tata Photon, Reliance Netconnect and have been having problems with airtel (broadband and 3g).

Tikona sales guy came on a Sunday, showed the speed as 2Mbps. I was reluctant to part with my money but given that they charged 500 for installation + 500 for plan (299 plan to begin with), I gave him the money. All other ISPs charge more than 500 for installation and I had already burnt a wad of cash with installation.

He promised 2 days, then it turned to 3 days, then it became 5 days with dusshera vacations.

The person who installed was very dumb. Even though my computer could not get IP address, he would try starting the browser. After some cajoling and threats and calls to the sales guy, I was able to coax him into calling his senior. After 1.5 hours, tikona finally installed.

I started having trouble again and I was ready to fire the customer support. The guy was patient and asked me to reboot everything. I did and after that I have not had much problems.

The speed is 2Mbps . It went down to 700 kbps yesterday night.
I called them again for upgrading the plan. They said their systems were down and I should call them later.

I am keeping fingers crossed on billing issues. The thing which I was looking for was uptime because I cannot work otherwise. 700kbps is ok for me for work. Tikona has so far provided that to me.

Airtel goes up and down. No one has been able to address it and they don't come home (after repeated calls and 121 assuring - sir it is very urgent we will do this). I have been waiting for 14 days.
I am still retaining airtel as backup because of lack of choice. All the providers are bad in my opinion.

Problem with Tikona is that one has to login everytime on reboot. I have added a wireless router now with DHCP . Not sure if it will retain IP if kept on.
It does not work with vonage though (I have yet to try it behind the wireless router)

I had a connection for 6 months then I finally got fed up with it and decided to disconnect. For last four months I have been requesting them over mail and phone but they keep sending me bills.
They are unprofessional and there engineers are dumb.

The only thing they know is clear cookies and clear history.

Anyone who is praising them is either from Tikona or luckiest people on earth

Well you jinxed me man :-(. I have been trying to upgrade the plan (Yes, I am still one of the lucky few receiving stable service from Tikona).
The 1800 number returns a message (from Tata Indicom possibly their carrier) that this number is busy. Morons. If a ISP is not reachable on phone, how can they deliver internet service.
Anyway after some effort I got in touch with them. They said someone will come to collect the money for the difference in 299 and 849 plan. They said 3 days. No one appeared.
So I called the sales person back. I had given a motivational speech to him (how he has to take responsibility and see himself as an ambassador for tikona etc )before signing up for the connection. I had told him how my work is getting affected and how I cannot explain to my overseas clients that in bangalore one cannot get a stable internet connection (i.e. after I finish explaining that the background sounds they hear on the phone is street dogs barking).
Anyway, I called him again and he gave me the number of his manager. He directed me to the billing department in Bangalore. Direct number. It is closed now. Will check tomorrow. The sales guy also gave me directions ot the office in Domlur where I can go in person.

The airtel guys refused to give me a local number or office address.
Ultimately as I said - ALL THE ISPS ARE BAD. You just have to suck it up , pray and beg, cajole them into working for you.

I wish we can band together as customer association and jointly file customer cases and bring pressure on these companies. Ultimately you have to believe in the goodness of people. The vision that brought broadband to India will perhaps also help in making it a good experience. I am up for assisting on this count if the site owners are willing to consider . I can't tell you how bad it is for the image of the country when I have to tell VP level execs that I cannot work from home/or my conference calls, presentations are spotty.

Same is happening with me. Even after disconnection they are sending mails.

Do not delete the mails that you have sent. It's a proof for you.
