Default Accessing internet on Android phone using Tiknoa

    Hello,

Can anyone please guide on how to connect the Wifi enabled phone using Tikona broadband.

I have searched on internet, and this seems to the best site as there is lot of information available, but detailed guide is missing here as well.

I have a wired Tikona connection (so far I am not paying 75 per month additionally for wifi access).

I have Android 2.2 based phone and have windows XP in my laptop.

I am not a very hands on person with networks etc and hence detailed reply will be hughly appreciated.

    Regards,
    Milind

Scenario 1: You have mentioned that you want to connect the android phone which has wireless capability but then you have missed an important aspect as to how it will connect if you dont have a wifi router. You have a wired broadband connection from Tikona and have not opted for a wifi connection from them so you cannot connect the phone to the broadband connection.

Scenario 2: Are you planning to connect the android phone to the computer(assuming it has a wireless card) as an ad hoc connection.

Do tell the model of the phone too.

Better opt for wifi access from Tikona.
Both laptop and Phone may not access wifi network of Tikona.
mention the MAC address of your Phone to them.
    B
    2. are you getting any wifi networks ( secured/unsecured)
    in your Android Phone ?

    3. if you install Windows 7 OS (Rs 9000/=approx cost)your laptop can work as access point
for your phone. Another application called
"Connectify" is required. ( free !)
    4.
Chuck Tikona and and try for a Landline based ISP's BB connection.
    and get a wireless router.
    BSNL/MTNL/AIRTEL/RelianceBroadband/TataIndicom in the order mentioned.

    Hello,

This was the fast reply I have received on any of the forums. Thank you guys.

    For Fardeen's questions
    1) I have Samsung Galaxy 3 phone, was was upgraded to Andriod 2.2 yesterday
    2) I was actually hoping to connect via the scenario 2 you mentioned. I have tried at least 10 times before posting a query here..

    For questions from essbebe
    1) Couple of my friends are not able to connect to their phones even after opting for wifi from Tikona, which is why I am not very keen to start that service. It seems they don't support mobiles officially as well.
    2) I can access to many other wifi (corporate wifi, cafe coffee day wifi etc) and I also see few Tikona wifi networks on my phone, but I am not able to connect to them.
    3) I have Windows 7 installed in my home laptop. I will try installing that software on home PC as well.
    4) I use Tikona because it has cheapest unlimited options and hence not very keen to switch provider just for the wifi on Android.

    Thank you folks,
    milind

    @vinit
User does not want to avail wifi mode of Tikona.

Tikona wifi is enabled directly to laptop with Wlan card.
There is no modem No wifi router involved.
Either the signal is picked from their nearby tower,
or they give a new tower in your location.
If above set up is incorrect , Tikona users please clarify.

They block access to any other system: MAC binding ?( laptop Phone etc )
