    Default Tikona Broadband Plans

Tikona provides wireless broadband (BTH), which is an advanced technology as compared to other service providers. Its good to have the wireless broadband technology, as there is no drilling mess or a mess of wires.

Below are tables of Tikona broadband plans, they have been put into different categories according to the type of usage, i.e heavy user, light user.

    Heavy Usage

For the heavy usage pack there is no GB restrictions or speed downgrade

can anyone explain what technology they use in Tikona Broadband please post latency test gateway, Google DNS(8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) and OpenDNS (Do 20 ping minimum use -t), i see many white color wireless receiver hanging rooftop domestic water supply pipes looks very cheap and low quality even flutter like flag with Red and green light. i don't think latency will be consistent stable like others.

Tikon uses 2.4Ghz frequency for last mile and its the same frequency thatyour wifi router uses. Wireless connections are kniwn to have high latency. Dont know about Tikona.

im using Reliance WiMax last 2years, confused about Tikona service, quality and latency. Reliance wimax gateway pings around 40 to 45 speed Download 1.5 Mbps and uploads more than 2Mbps Monthly Damage Rs.3030 including Tax and Static IP no Login Page. If any one please post all tests and technical data that will be very nice.

    Tushar,
I have always maintained that only fix things that are broken. If your current service provider is doing good then why even think about changing it? If it is about cost cutting then you could may be opt for a lesser speed connection. I have used Reliance wimax in the past and it worked fine till it worked but one day it broke down and that was it.

I would also be very interested in seeing some speed test and latency tests on a Tikona connection Any one?

    Admin,
Its not about cost cutting, its about quality and consistency in service provided by ISP Reliance working awesome for me better then any other ISP. But what i pay like Rs.3000/- per month for just 1.5Mbps doesn't looks good to me Airtel Tikona BeamTelecom in Rs.2000 you get more than 4 Mbps WTH.....

    This is what I do:

For normal browsing and very small file downloads I use Airtel 3G and Vodafone 3G

    Why?

Because those are the most reliable 3G service providers in my area where I live. And I dont use them for large downloads purely because the prices are just too high and my files are large. I have to download about 7.5GB data every 2-3 days and if I used Airtel or Vodafone for that at Rs120-130per GB it would work out a lot.

For big files I use Mtnl 3G

    Why?

Because Mtnl is extremely cheap and it is fast when using FTP. http downloads are very slow on Mtnl for some reason. The files I download can be resumed so disconnection is never a problem because everything just restarts itself. Mtnl only costs Rs1650 a month for 200GB data which makes it the cheapest option here in Delhi.

The reason why I only use 3G and not an adsl connection is because only Mtnl adsl is available in my area and I had the connection but it broke down one fine day and they never did anything to bring it back to life. The cable is still hanging outside.

@ iL6>tushar - Rs.3030 wow that is alot! As you said your connection is good enough, then why change to Tikona. You should read their reviews on the forum, they are not so good so you are probably better off with Reliance! (I actually thought Reliance stopped providing broadband to residential areas)

My point is you could actually get two different connections and use one for one thing and the other for other stuff like I do.

Because a service provider is bad, doesnt mean you delete the section!!! Why would you want the Tikona section to be deleted?

I've seen the cafes in my locality running tikona broadband absolutely fine. I've not tested the latency myself but as far as the online games are concerned, they run smoothly. And the browsing experience is just too good. I use BSNL broadband but I've to say tikona is very good too despite reading the reviews of all those people who got bad service from tikona. Its just a matter of luck. Somebody is getting good service, somebody is not.

Ok so there is a positive review about Tikona. It may be something to do with area or like you said just luck. Im sure if cafes are running Tikona then it must be working fine without any problems, otherwise it wouldnt be used by them.

I don't know what plan you are using but I have the Thunder 699 plan from Reliance. It is an unlimited 2Mbps connection but the contention ratio is 1:8. So the download speed is ~250kBps. It a a Metro Ethernet connection i.e. instead of a modem I've been give a CAT5e Cable with a RJ-45 jack. The monthly bill is ~800/

I have also used Tikona for more than a year in the past and found it satisfying. The period involved sharing connection with 2 different people at two different places. The only problem I had was that of payment. That time Tikona only accepted online payment or DD and for some unknown reason I was never able to access the payment page so I always had to go and apply for a DD. It was a pain in the butt. Though the second time my friend persuaded the agent to pay on our behalf. We gave him the cash.

    Dear Care Tikona,

Do you provide more than 4 Mbps download and 2Mbps of upload port speed in 1:4 contention ratio.
