Default wow if the beginning is this crappy God knows how existing customers deal with them.

So I enrolled online for a new connection a week ago and got a prompt follow up call the next day.The lady confirmed the info and said she'd be passing on my application to the Engineers who'd visit for the installation.4 days passed and I called at 5 pm, one of the Representatives Himanshu told me that he'd ensure I get the installation done by this evening.I was satisfied by the response not knowing this was their all weather script "aaj shyam tak ho jaega". I called the toll free tikona number again this morning, the rep ekta assured this would get done today,Obviously I'm getting a run around here the staff is either incompetent or they already have enough consumers and don't need more.Iwork full time and have college so I can't afford to waste my time on an internet application on a weekday so I called them a few minutes ago just to confirm the status of the installation, the lady on the phone said I'd get a callback after 5 pm at which point I realized this is just a joke to these guys.Work is done during the day Tikona is not a night club .....no one calls after the business day has ended anyways when I asked her for the reason of the delay she said she'd rather transfer me to her 'senior', so she transferred and the phone rang for a good 8 minutes...unbelievable...needless to say no one responded.I released the call and tried the 1800 tikona # pressed 1 for new connection info and voila they're now disconnecting my calls, tried thrice the rep picks up the call and without saying anything hangs up.At which point I dropped every task and made this first post on IndiaBroadband. The success of any new company is heavily dependent on it's current consumers and the recommendation of the services to their friends,I had always known Tikona had crappy services but I got to witness that firsthand today.I wanted a WiFi connection too bad Tikona has lost a would be loyal consumer today and countless others whom I'd be recommending their services.I live in the southwest part of Delhi.

Pathetic service is all I can say. You would think a company would at least pay a lot more attention to their new customer, wanting to grow their number of customers. This clearly shows that if they are doing this to customer who want a new connection what they would do to existing customers.

I would understand if an existing customer would make a complain and nothing was being done about it, as complaints never seem to be resolved quickly or are found important, but dealing with a new customer like this, its not like they don't have engineers to do the installation....just awful customer service. Just be glad you never got the connection, imagine the problems you may have had to face once you had got the connection.

I've been reading all the reviews of Tikona on IndiaBroadband and it's one Ramsay brother movie after another....the pattern of lousiness and incompetence is shocking, I'll be visiting the Mtnl exchange tomorrow and hope that would be the end of this ordeal.

Its astonishing to the performance of Tikona, and yet they are going to be launching 4G, how the hell will they manage that if they cant even manage new customer requirements and installations.

MTNL is a good option, least they wont lurk you around for a new connection.

The whole purpose of getting the wiibro was to run the Xbox,tv,lappy and phone using a single WiFi hotspot.Reliance and Airtel don't have lines in my street and I dreaded the sarkari mtnl thus tikona was the next choice, wired or wireless doesn't really matter at this time preeti I'm just looking for speed and reliability....there's already an mtnl landline in the building and the exchange waala officer is on good terms with my parents so I guess future breakdown mein zyada delays nahin aaenge . A few years ago Reliance had this connection where they'd install a chhatri on the terrace and usme se lan wire aatha tha computer tak...it was cheap, fast and hassle free. They've discontinued that for Home/personal use...wo Ab bas business connections pe milta hai. I'll get this Netgear router today and close this internet waala chapter tomorrow and you're right Rockstar it's a good thing this didn't work out otherwise I'm guessing Rona hi padta.

You said you be visiting Mtnl. if its Mtnl Delhi then get a 3G sim from Mtnl and get Rs4500 for 6 months plan that gives you 200GB data. Works out to be Rs750 a month. I use this connection and to be honest its been great so far. I also use the Rs1650 per month unlimited again from Mtnl for purely downloading purposes and it runs 24/7. No throttling no excessive bills as its prepaid and reception at my place is perfect.

If you have good signal strength where you would be using internet then there is no reason why you shouldnt get Mtnl. It also works on Bsnl network while roaming with no extra charge.

I used reliance netconnect dongle for a year with no problems ..always on ,great speed....10 days ago the dongle started giving me problems which led me to completely move away from usb modems. My computer's device manager recognizes the usb modem as a usb device not a modem.....long story short it wouldn't work and I spent hours trouble shooting win xp ...but I had no idea mtnl 3g dongle costed 700 a month for 33 gigs data,up until now I was sinking roughly 1600 bucks a month for 15 gigs. But I think I'd be alright with just the Mtnl WiFi connection, already have the trusty voda 3g on my cellphone and I don't really use a whole lot of data when I'm out,the 250 1 gb recharge takes care of everything for the month.

Have you tried uninstalling the Reliance dialer and reinstalling it? If Reliance was working well and the modem recognition is the only issue then there is no reason to look for another provider in my opinion.

Try uninstalling the dialer and install it again. There is a 99% chance it would just work without you having to do anything else. If you still have the same issue please open a new thread in Reliance netconnect section and lets spend some time troubleshooting. Its worth a try.. You tried it on your own once so give our community a chance to give you some suggestions at the very least before you say good bye to Reliance.

Here is another thread you might wanna have a look at : http://www.indiabroadband.net/mobile...dafone-3g.html

Mtnl is great when it comes to price but Reliance is also miles ahead of competetion as far as price goes although its a distant second as compared to Mtnl.

If nothing works then just go buy a 3g router and plug in your modem into the router instead of the computer and use a LAN cable or use wifi. I use a TP link and it works fine. I dont even have a data connection for my mobile phone as I always use wifi while I am at home and when I go out I plug the wifi router in the car and that keeps me connected where ever I go. It is a good investment.

It would cost Rs1000 only. Get it from a local shop and tell them to get it to work before you pay up. Big stores wont do it so just get from a small shop somewhere. You may have to go to a few shops to find one thats willing to set it up for you before you pay up but its worth the trouble.

I was going to suggest the same thing. You aren't an expert with modems just like most of us so it is better to stay away from the hassle of having to configure and all. Just get a 3g wifi router and that will be the end of all your trouble with modems. TP-Link works well and is easy to configure. Its called Pocket something and its very small if you want to carry it around. Can run off the mains or even be plugged into USB for power. Your computer doesn't need to recognize it, It just takes power from USB cable nothing else and your computer could be using any OS it does not matter.

Whats the make of your modem?

First thing to try would be reinstalling the GUI and see if that resolves it. I am also of the same opinion that you should get the modem to work instead of looking for a new connection. Please update after trying that.

Thanks admin I'd shortly post a query in the reliance section but I have pretty much everything I could to get it to work.TP link sounds like a great idea but am not sure if it would work with the modem. The modem provided by Reliance was Huawei EC150 it's a usb stick which when connected to the lappy would autorun the reliance netconnect software,I'd click connect on the software interface that would popup on the desktop and the data session would be established. One day I woke up from the wrong side of the bed, switched on the lappy and the light on the usbstick modem won't blink....googled around and found out this was a very common problem with usb modems. So here's what I did, uninstalled the program ,got the software for the modem from reliance's website...transferred it to my lappy and installed it.No result, searched more.uninstalled everything under usb in device manager and restarted ....windows automatically populated the device under modem category under device manager...light blinked modem worked.Had to put the computer on stand by,and the modem never worked after I got back on desktop.Tried fooling around with the boot sequence on bios, put PNP (plug n play) on automatic, uninstalled reinstalled, restarted probably a million times closed antivirus deleted cookies etc...wouldn't work.Anyways I'll post this in the reliance section and work with the community in getting this solved but after reading the posts here paying 1600 per month for 15 gb is kind of stupid no matter how good this reliance connection has been for me.Thanks all for taking time out of your schedules for going through this folks,I really appreciate this.

    Mtnl has this offer :

Special Offer Price(which include 15GB Free Download for One Month along with Data Card

MRP 1200 /- (Inclusive of all)
So that's less then what you pay per month for data only. You could pay Rs1500 to Mtnl and get a new data card every month along with 15GB data allowance lol We also have a buy and sell section on the forum here, start selling modems here for Rs500 a piece.

Jokes apart, I think you should give up on Reliance modem as I just had a look around and its not uncommon with this modem and you will be struggling after some time again if you do manage to get it to work some how.

Rs1500 with 15GB data and a free modem that too prepaid. I would go for it any day. Don't forget to check what the Mtnl reception is like in your area before you spend your money though.

Well onemanarmy my heart is set on the 999 1mbps mtnl connection,I'd finally be able to connect to Xbox live and the reception is out of the picture because I'm done with usb modems for good,I intend to do some heavy downloading in the coming months and the wireline broadband with wifi modem is what folks in my situation need but count me in for the modem giveaway the reliance usb is laughing hysterically at me from the corner of my room
