Thread: Mount ABU - Rajasthan

I has jus gone for an overnite trip to ABU wid some of my frens....for a cocktail parti!!!!

Mount Abu is an hill station in Rajasthan where in all u ll find is gujjus around da whole town.....! its like 3 to 3.5 hours by road...n amazing roads to travel by car...! got a couple of nice hotels....n some nice bungalows u get for rent in some seasons...!

I go to abu almost like 3-4 times in a year......wheneva i feel like...!!

Abu on the whole the place is really beautifule....with a nice lake....n u can go around da whole lake walkin, lots of nice happening around da lake..., lots of nice things to shop specially some special ones.....!!!

Most of gujjus go there as its in Rajasthan n Gujarat being a dry state.....its better to drink n party there.... not violating the rules .....!

but its fun time wheneva in ABU.....! if nyone is gng to Rajasthan....make sure to visit ABU....if u like a hill station n want to realx....!!!!

hmmm i know about Mount Abu but never got a chance to visit this place, can you share some pics please. If you clicked any good pics then please update here

my parents had been there .. they too liked the place..

ummmm well i vent got ny snaps....of ABU.....we ve been there soo much...tht we dont even bother to take snaps at all(only snaps....no sight seeing we doo..... but i ll try to get some snaps da next time i ll go prolly in dec end...!

there r a couple of really good places to see in ABU !

i am going to agra in morning, say at about 6am
got my canon powershot with me and 8 batteries with 2 GB card and 2 GB backup.. plaining to cover fort this time

hmmm looks like u r totally in to photography.......?well da prob wid me is i wud rather be in the picture than takin em......lol!!!!!

hopefulyl i m travelling to mumbai next weekend.....but its more like a social trip....as such i hate to go arnd mumbai than sum places....been all around mumbai soo many times....maybe i can get few snaps if i goto gateway or colaba.....!!!!!

hmm gateway is a great place to click at nite, i really like to sit on boundry at nite coz it gives a feel like there are sooo many stars in sea and the sea breeze fills you up with a good energy

Alright I just found out on google earth ... Its a long way from Delhi... But that lake and all that looks pretty nice on google earth

Will try going there some time.

So Aashaka what would you recommend seeing in Mount Abu, as you visit the place very often, you would be the best person to ask. As when you generally visit a new place its sometimes difficult to know which places to visit!

I see 5 lakes in there on google earth... do they have boating and watersports in there as well?

Do you think hotels are available in plenty or do you recomend advance booking and when would be the best time to go?

yes preeti....i wud reccomend u to go to dilwara temple .....its a jain temple but a very beautiful one with lots of carvings on marbles n its maintained very well....must visit.....apart fromt tht theres a place called guru shikhar....its sum amount of steps to go till the top....but its really amazing...!!!! theres a lake...which is really good n fun to b there as loads of activities go on....

yes there is boating but no water sports...! best time....personally speaking i lov to go there nytime from november to march....!!!! also abu's da best in august wherein its like raining arnd...n u feel as if u r walking amidst the clouds...n all.....its really awesome...!!!

also there r lots of treks in abu.... but beware of animals....after evening...!

Hotels...recommended to book em in advance if u r gng in august for sure.....n even arnd this time on weekends its recommended to book....! Two best hotels in ABU r ...cama rajputana n hilton/hillock!! there r lot of other hotels but i prefer staying in these two places...!!!!

I've always wondered that how a place like Rajasthan with desert in it can boast about a hill station like Mt. Abu... :confused1: Do we have there cold nights and pleasent days during summers?

well not really totaly cold nites...its really pleasant n nice during nites.....n its hot during daytimes in summer....but definately nicer n better than rest of rajashthan!!!!!!

I like Mount Abu not only for the Nakki Lake,Guru sikhar and famous sunset point I think main attraction is Dilwara Temple its superb. It's architecture beyond the imagine i can't explain in word another Rajasthan temple in Ranakpur(100kM from Udaipur) is quite similar in architecture but Dilwara is best.I visited Mount Abu in winter(1st Jan 2003) and temperature is near about 0C

How far is this from Delhi, Admin maybe you can consider Mount Abu for a holiday! Even if it may be a bit further i suppose it would a be a good holiday and worth the time spent driving!

Absolutely......!!! i guess it wud b around 8-10 hours drive......!!!!!though not sure......completely about the Roads....in Rajasthan....!!!! but u can prolly....cat a flight to ahmedabd....n than drive down as it jus takes about 3.5 hours max to reach Mt. Abu!!!!

First from Delhi to Mt.Abu direct train(2916UP,4321UP,9106UP) available New Delhi-Abu Road distance is 748 Km and form Abu Road to Mt Abu 45 min by car(25Km).Otherwise any body can go Delhi to Udaipur by train then Udaipur to Mt.Abu by car(300Km)
or Delhi to Ahmadabad and then Ahmadabad to Mt.Abu(220Km) but i think this is longest route

FYI..... Flying down from Delhi to A'bad n than gng to abu is easiest as roads r very good!!!! PLs donot take roads from Udaipur to Abu....the road sucks bigtime....n definately u ll ve a back ache......n other aches as well.....

That is true that road is bad from Udaipur to Mt.Abu but if any body want to travel more, then Udaipur is extra attraction specially city palace and in the way of Udaipur to Mt.Abu another amazing jain temple Ranakpur is available and lot more like Eklingji temple,Haldighati(famous battle field between Rana Pratap and Akbar) also in the way of Udaipur to Mt.Abu.

yea agreed...but udaipur is more or less...city of lakes (whr lakes are all empty)but its got amazing palaces....!!!!! lots of sight seeing in udaipur...!!!!!

yep....these place r really nice....!!! i ve normally got work in udaipur...so i make it a work cum pleasure trip over fri, sat sun.....!!!!! Eklingji Temple is really beautiful......!!!!

Abu is altogather different as its a hill station!!!!
