Thread: Top 10 Holiday Destinations in India

There are so many holiday destinations in India, in fact probably more than any other country has! India is very different in the different parts and its important that we take pride and know how good our country is.

There are some very popular destinations and some destinations which some of us have not heard of but are actually good places to visit.

According to you what are the top 10 holiday destinations in India.

My top 10 (in no particular order):

1. Simla
2. Kulu/Manali
3. Ooty
4. Kodaikanal
5. Goa
6. Ranthambore/Kanha/Bandhavgadh (pick one)
7. Matheran
8. Dharmasala
9. Jaisalmer and the dunes
10. Andaman & Nicobar

But there are many to which I cannot do justice because I am pegged at 10.

Kix already mention the all very good place and my choice is very similar to kix
but problem is i can't mention only 10 but i am trying to set a list
1.Manali
2.Goa(Specially colva/Majorda for lonely)
3.Jaisalmer
4.Kanyakumari (i like that place for sea in three)
5.Mcleodganj(dharamshala H.P)
6.Pelling
7.Shillong
8.Lava(WB)
9.Kausani
10.Kovalam

I have eliminated pahelgaon,Sonmarg & Gulmarg although it has unmentionable beauty but due some other reason i have eliminated this from holiday list but it will be must be added in tourist list.

At the moment half the places i have been to are not coming into my mind, i haven't traveled as much and got plenty of places to see yet.

So here's my list in no particular order:

Shimla
Mussorie
Jaipur
Nainital

I like Nainital & Mussorie also i think that's also beautiful place in Nainital i have enjoyed pedal boating very much

my favourite destinations are.... in no order....

1. sikkim - darjeeling
2. manali - shimla
3. Jaipur - Jodhpur - Jaisalmer - Ranthambhore - Mt. Abu - Udaipur(I love Rajasthan)
4. Dharamshala
5. Munnar
6. Goa
7. Mussourie
8. Mumbai
9. Gir
10. Coconut Lagoon!

Only 10 aashu, i also like most of the Rajasthan & few other place also but preeti restricted in only ten. you mention Munnar that's really nice place but

well yea for me....it is!!! mumbai rocks ....as i ve got frens there n amazing places to go to....good crowd ....n alll...so its fun!!!

I like lonely place when i visit goa i never want to stay in north goa specially in session (i avoid calangute,Candolim or Mapusa) i always stay in south goa(colva-majorda or vasco) but in mumbai i just like marine drive or sometimes i just went to Hanging garden(malavar hills) so much crowds just like kolkata really this is not for holiday destination for me.

Very less people have mentioned Kerala...I haven't traveled much places...But I would rate Kerala some where @ the top of my list...

Kerala is nice place no doubt about that i most like Kovalam,Munnar, Periyar, Kottayam but still in my list 1st position will get Karakoram

well yea i too used to or can say still hate to b in mumbai....but for me i ve got my frens der n we jus ve a major time out there.....club hoppin to sitting@ home relaxing to watch plays....to drives, sit thru da nites @ cafes.....n for me the right co. matters always....!!!! also i ve my cousins there n its soo much fun wid em....specially thy stay in like real good areas....like mahalaxmi colaba n juhu....

I haven't been to Kerla, but yes i have heard it is a wonderful place to visit, i think that's on my wish list then!

I have been to all the above places too ..... But i did nt like the Kovalam beach that much ..... But i loved the rest

actually i stay a single day in kovalam i went from kanniyakumari to Nagercoil(few hour) then Nagercoil to Kovalam for me kanniyakumari is best but lot of the person prefer Kovalam so i mention it in holiday spot.

I've also heard that Lakshadweep island, is also an awesome place to visit!

Its a popular place where models (male and female) have their shooting done their for swim wear and stuff!

we cant miss leh ladakh.. its an awesome place too..

i vent been there ......waiting for the right time n oppurtunity to visit leh ladakh

Really Ladakh is amazing place October and april &May is the best session to visit Leh & Ladakh

Leh Ladakh another one on my list!

I dont know anyone who has been there either!

So what can one expect from this place, apart from the beautiful scenic views!

my best fren went for her honey moon there n it seems its like heaven on earth.....one of the beautiful places she has seeen!

I would recommend Jammu and Kashmir to everyone.kashmir valley is pristine beauty,the pine trees,long unending roads,Dal lake,Kawa,snow capped mountains,walnut and pear trees dotting every roadside,long nights,rickety taxis and above all very friendly people.I have been to Kargil,Patnitop,Pahalgam,Srinagar and various place that don't find any mention in Tour guides.There's everything in Kashmir but it seems people can't enjoy under the shadow of huge Indian forces that are omnipotent there and did I mention Kashmiri women are epitome of beauty.Not to mention this place is perfect gateway for those who are looking for solitude.
