Default Tawang : The Switzerland of North East India

Moored high up in the mountain ranges of the Himalayas, at 3500 meters above sea level is Tawang-the beautiful land of Monpas. With sobriquets like :The Hidden Paradise or Land of Dawn-lit mountains; this land evokes images of awesome mountain views, remote hamlets, quaint and sleepy villages, magical Gonpas, tranquil lakes and allot more. At Tawang, you have a heavenly tryst with nature at its best and the heady mixture of history, religion and legends.
The area of the district is approximately 2,085-sq-kms bordered by Tibet in the North, Bhutan in the Southwest and Sela ranges separate West Kameng district in the East. The name Tawang derives from some bearings on surroundings. But people's interpretation is that the name Tawang was given by Merak Lama in the 17th century.
The inhabitants of the districts are all of Monpa tribes. The Monpas belong to Mongoloid stock, are well built, and fair in complexion. Their houses are built with stones and timbers. Agriculture and Animal Husbandry are the fundamental means of the Monpas occupation.

"Nature can never be defined in a shape. How can one define its beauty? It is only to observe through the eye of brain and to feel in heart where sense of ecstatic joy and love live together in pure form"

There is the close and inseparable connection between the heart of man and the great heart of nature in all its beauty and its grad ever. The thirsty vision for enjoying beauty and ecstasy of Nature is an unlimited spirit without end. But it is " Tawang, A Hidden Paradise Beyond imagination " that enables visitors to quench their all wishes for nature and its pure scenic beauty. In the lap of high mountains and lasting of green pine trees, it is an apple of a unique color for visitors not to taste but to inhale and feel through eyes.Mountains full of wild flowers in different colors present an incomparable sight of eternal beauty. Following words seems true here.

" It is my faith that every flower enjoys the air it breath."

The sight of the tranquil water of lakes, rivers and of numerous high water falls reflecting the color of blue sky and sometimes hovering clouds overhead gives a very heart touching sensational experience to the visitors. Occasionally, the appearance of the mist enveloping the rivers and lakes and valleys reveals a pure beauty inherent in nature in this hidden paradise. The true lovers of nature who wish to enjoy the Nature in true sense, this hidden paradise welcome them. The best season the visitor can choose for coming to Tawang is between September to November. This time is ideal with clear weather and a little chill in the air. Snow covered landscape can be experienced between December to March.

Thats Tibetan script used by the buddhist in arunachal both hunayana and mahayana buddhists use this same script.

Well my papa was posted there for 3 years when I was a kid. In summers you can keep windows open for only 2 hours thats 12 to 2 after that the cold wind forces you to close windows.

oh ok miss priyanka. i am interested in the linguistics.

some time back a great tamil king went all the way to
himalayas and conquered there and put his flag there
maybe the tibetan script was influenced by this king.
    i think he was imayavaramban.

    in wiki they have
"Imayavaramban Neduncheralathan, a Sangam age king said in inscriptions to have conquered up to the Himalayas.[2] "

if it is the first sangam period it was over 10,000 years back.

at that time even stones were not turned into sand.

    @Punch Bala .
What you have mentioned is not in wiki that it happened 10000 years ago. But I accept that south might have 10000 years history.

Imayavaramban Neduncheralathan [328-270 B.C] ruled for 58 years.

    Now 328+2009=2337 years ago.

It says in that web site.

"In the preface to the book the learned scholar says, "Japanese have preserved their past history spanning to 2440 years, whereas Egyptians and Sumerians recall with pride their 4000 years of history. The 3000-year-old history of Chinese gives them a unique place. But Tamils with 10000 years of history have not brought it to the world arena.""

Punch Bala is being conservative. I believe the Tamil language is
    much older than 10,000 years.

He had said that this king was there 10000years ago which is not possible. Also civilisation started 11600 years ago when ICE age ended so that info might be wrong.
