I agree its a wonderful place to spend a few days in summer but it has become so much crowded these days with the whole of Chandigarh going to Shimla in summers and leaving no room for anyone else
Kufri is still ok and the views are pretty good aswell.

    Default Shimla India Travel

Situated in the North-west Himalayas, Shimla is the Capital of Himachal Pradesh. It was once famous as the Summer Capital of "The Raj". Though evocative of a bygone era, it is today a thriving Capital of a State, famous for its snowcapped peaks, apples, pine forests, flowers and gentle smiling people.

Visitors come to Shimla to walk down its famous Mall Road and also to experience Shimla in its many hues from spring flowers to autumn leaves, from the soothing green & gentle breeze of Summer to its Winter snows. It is truly a "Destination for all seasons ".

A special delight is to travel by one of the few remaining mountain Railways in the world-the toy train to Shimla - as it winds through 103 tunnels during its 90 km journey up the mountains.

No doubt India has so many exotic places that its not possible to see them all in one go. The facts of Shimla and its beauty were evident to me from a documentary shown on television, after a long gap I have finally managed to make my trip and at last I am here and definitely have the plans to visit Shimla. I was lucky to get some one known to me at Kolkata where I am staying at present. Its also good to be at places like these which can make my India touring better with the loads of information that I get to see here.

You cant buy a property in Shimla even the whole of Himachal pradesh.. only the residents there can buy/sell realestate among themselves.

I think its stupid because it is actually stopping this state from developing and it would not get any investment from people living in other states.
