Default Certificate Attestaion - Work Visas

    Hi,

For those who been to other countries with work visas, might have tackled the attestation process. I need to know whether this can be done to any certificates or just degree certificates? Suppose, I do a technical course would that need attestation, or the attestation is just for the degree/diploma certificates approved bu UGC / AICTE ?

Can you tell me what exactly is the process, and the time needed?

    Cheers!
    Nevin.

The only country that asked me for attested certificate was "The Netherlands". I was asked to submit attested certificate of:

    - original birth date (no! passport, school leaving, and other such documents wouldn't do for them)
    - Std. X, XII, all degrees
    - marriage

You should get attested copies for any certificate that justifies your work visa.

    Attestation process:

    - First confirm with the embassy who can attest. Ordinary notaries won't do for many.
    - You must take original + copies to the authority
    - If the document is not in English, you must get it translated from a certified translator
    - The attestation requires court fee stamps, stamp of the attorney/judge, and signature (of course) from a recognized court/institution of India (see first point)
    - Give at least one day for the attestation process, possibly more.

    Hi,

Thanks for responding, but tell me this if the certificate is from a private institute, unlike the govt certificates like passport/birth certificate, how can that be justified? In the case of private universities, it can be justified if that has the approval from UGC/AICTE as I indicated previously. What about the certification courses?

It is not a question of "justified or not justified".

If there is any qualification/degree/diploma/certification that you have have (be it government or private) and that certificate has helped you in the qualification of the work visa, then embassy may ask you for that certificate. You need to submit attested copies of only those certificates that the embassy asks.
