Dubai is a good place to visit in winters and there are a lot of things you can do in Dubai..

    1) Dont forget to go offroading in 4x4's and trust me the way those guys drive on sand will put shame on the best roller coasters.

    2) Shopping at the Emirates mall or the central mall.. both are good for shopping

    3) Gold shopping is great but make sure you bargain as those guys will normally come down by as much as 50%

    4) Jumerah beach

5)Wild wadi water park is also a must see. I havent seen a better water park then this anywhere in the world.

    6) You can go for a small cruise on Dubai creek.. there are a few cruises available there.

    7) Going for a city tour by bus is a must and it will only take up one day of your holiday and is worth the time I would say.

    8) Stay at Burj al Arab if you can afford it

Lastly there are a few night clubs if you like to go clubbing and some of them are pretty cool but make sure you go there in the tourist season coz its the crowd that makes it cool.

Anything specific.. give me a shout and I would be happy to answer all your queries.

What do you mean by beautiful weather?

I have stayed in UAE for 1.5 years on a project. The weather from April to October is super hot - 42°+ C in shade. You cannot venture out from 9:30 AM till 6 PM. The humidity is terrible. After walking out of a shopping mall and going to the next one about 200 m away, you will be soaked in sweat. I once landed at Abu Dhabi airport at 3 AM and the temp was 36° C outside. On Friday (weekly off) we went to the Corniche and were wading in the Abu Dhabi Creek. The water was luke warm!!!

But November to February, it is pleasant.

But malls and streets are extremely clean and spanking. You can shop till you drop. Almost my entire Home Theatre (Pioneer 3 disk DVD player, Onkyo Amp/Receiver and Bose AM10 speakers) were purchased there. My wife also purchased some jwellery. And of course, we purchased a lot of apparel too.

Yes. It is true. Shahrukh has a villa in one of the Palm islands. The Naakheel group has constructed the following:

    a) Palm Jummeira
    b) Palm Dierra
    c) Palm Jebel Ali
    d) The World

Maybe. But if you have enough money to go to the moon just to look whether the Palm islands are visible or not, you are better advised to buy the property in Palm islands.

Default United Arab Emirates (Dubai) - Jewellery Briefing

Dubai has evolved as a significant jewellery manufacturer as well as wholesaling substantial quantities of jewellery from Italy, Malaysia, Indonesia and South Korea. Italy alone exports around 25 tonnes (0.8 million oz) of gold as jewellery to Dubai annually. Saudi Arabian manufacturers have also established outlets in Dubai. Factories in Dubai and the neighbouring emirate of Sharjah produce around 49 tonnes (1.6 million oz) of gold jewellery annually.

The essence of jewellery marketing in Dubai is high volume and low mark-up. With no sales tax, it is one of the cheapest places to buy jewellery. Indeed, Dubai calls itself 'City of Gold'. The 400 gold shops in its souks and shopping malls have 9.3 tonnes (0.3 m oz) on display in 18, 21, 22 and 24 carat gold, often with jewellery, coins and small bars.

The amount of gold jewellery consumed locally in the UAE stands at around 41 tonnes (1.3 m oz). Retail sales, however, are far higher because of the very large number of purchases made by tourists. A major surge in consumption occurs every March with the Dubai Shopping Festival which actively promotes gold. During the March 2001 festival, it is estimated that over 9 tonnes (0.3 m oz) of gold jewellery was sold.

Two peices of data I gathered from the web

    1. Construction began on the Palm Jumeirah island in June 2001 and the developers announced handover of the first residential units in 2006

    2. On 11th December 1972, just over 30 years ago, man set foot on the moon for the last time.
The Apollo 17 mission manned by Eugene Cernan and geologist Harrison Schmitt was the last in the program, marking the end of, quite possibly, the most important era in space exploration.
