I feel that piligrimage sites are commercialized today. There are separate queues for rich people and poor people. In the eyes of God all people are one - but the "people managing the the Gods" have created the disctinction anyway. Hence I am rather averse to visit piligrimage sites.

The only sites that I have visited are:

    - Somnath Temple (3 times)
    - Dwarka (twice)
    - Vaisho Devi (once)
    - SaptaShringi Devi (near Nasik, 3 times)
    - Shegaon (near Akola, twice when I was young)

I believe that God resides within us and if we pray true to ourselves, we will achieve the same happiness. I live so near Shirdi but I am never inclined to go there.

Vaishno Devi is a good piligrimage place to visit and it is very popular amoung Indians around the world.
One of my favourite places to visit is Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) in Amritsar, Punjab. The place gives you a peace of mind, the temple is absolutly beautiful, no matter what time of the year or time of day you visit.

It would be good to get a list of places in India which have the most popular pilgrimage places.
