    Hello friends,

This is my 100th post... So, I thought to start a thread about what I really live for... I hope men and women both will find it interesting...
And finally, I really hope it will serve as guide to anyone going to a new city...

This thread is going to describe about your favorite joints, restaurants, small hotels, big hotels basically any place in your city where you like to eat... U can also mention the reasons why you like that place... U can take following things in account...

Quality and taste of food, Service, Varieties Served, Specialty, Price in Menu-card, Ambiance, Hygiene, Crowd etc.

So guys who live to eat :18: , here is a chance for you to become a food critic :detective:...

P.S.- Please don't forget to mention name of city and rate this thread...

In Pune, the restaurant to visit is an Udipi restaurant called "Vaishali" on Fregusson College Road. If you are on a piligrimage to Pune, "Vaishali" is the diety.

    The joint is famous for:
    • delicious south indian cuisine.
    • extremely friendly waiters - my sister has been away from Pune for nearly 15 years but whenever she visits me and we go to Vaishali the waiters remember her (and of course they know me as well as many others by name)
    • atmosphere
    • young crowd (from FC) and families alike swearing on this place
*** Never argue with an idiot. ***

I go down to Murthal from Delhi whenever I get a chance at night to have food at one of the dhabas there..

The ones I like there are Gulshan Dhaba and Sukhdev Dhaba This is strictly after midnight and before dawn as its very easy to get there due to lack of traffic at that time

Other then that The Host at CP is my pet hang out for lunch ... excelent crowd and good service.

Once in a while I like to go to Maurya Sheraton near Dhaula kuan to their Bukhara resturant where the only thing I ever have is dal bukhara with naan

I also love food at Haveli at Jallandhar although after the owner has changed things have gone bad to worse but still its a good place to be at in the evenings even though it gets too crowded at times.

Chokhi dhani near Jaipur has some good Rajasthani food as well and I make it a point to go there when ever I go that route. In Jaipur there is a Rajputana palace sheraton where you can have dal bukhara and naan at their resturant called Peshaweri Love the atmosphere there and the service staff is excelent besides the hostess in their coffee shop which opens 24/7

I dont know if anyone here knows I have done a 3 years diploma in hotel management from IHM Gurdaspur although it was a sheer waste of time and I have never ever worked in the hotel industry.

In Pune there is another place called "Bombay Brasserie". They server unlimited kababs followed by Maa-ki-Dal/Chawal and a sweet dish for Rs. 350 (non-veg) or Rs 275 (veg), plus taxes.

One the road to NDA, there is a junction where NH4 bypass crosses the many roads from city. This point is on a hillock and is called Chandni Chowk (because it is away from city light glare the starry sky is visible). This point is a heaven for food junkies and many garden restaurants are located here. The famous ones are - The Oasis, Garden Court, Ambrosia, Up-and-Above, Viva Inn, Banjara Gardens, etc.

Viva Inn hotel and restaurant is owned by Chateau Indage winery group and serve very good wines.

    Default Unlimited Flavors

Talk about unlimited food in Pune. I must mention buffet section of Le Meridien. Food is excellent, with all the varieties you can probably think of... There are around 50 kind of preparations from around the globe... I face hard time in choosing stuffs for my stomach... As I want to taste everything... Service, Ambiance are World-class, too good... No. 1 choice if an executive wanna go on a lunch with International clients... Indian crowd and families generally flock-in for dinner... They serve wine on Sundays... It costs Rs. 600 per plate...

Next, a theme park Chokhi-Dhani at Nagar Road is famous for its hospitality... They will make you feel like a King... Traditional Rajasthani food is the flavor there..

Rajdhani(Rajasthani food) at Adlabs, Kalyaninagar is another hot spot for persons with bigger appetite.

For persons new to Pune/Maharashtra, I would suggest not to miss delicious Maharashtrian Thali(Unlimited) at Cafe Shreyas located near Fergussan College at Apte Road... I would give 10/10 to customer service...

Finally, I would love to tell you 1 secret about this city... Its especially for new students joining any college at Pune... U can almost always find a couple of small Tapdis near your college serving unlimited Thalis with 2 sabjis, daal/razma, chapati, rice, salad... The price ranges from 30-50 bucks...

@gardencityboy...I thought that MTR stood for Malvalli Tiffin rooms. We have a similar Hotel in Mysore called GTR Gayatri Tiffin Rooms..I usually eat there.
There is also another Hotel called as Mahesh Prasad which is good..apart from that U have many Brand Name places like Cafe Coffee day,Pai Vista,Regaalis,Metropole..etc

I suppose no one would know anything of these because i think no one here has visited mysore.
