    Arrow Favorite Songs

My first thread in The Lounge. Just wanted to know everyone's favorite songs. Any Language or any source is fine. Old or new. If possible post first 2-6 lines of the songs too. You can update as you find new ones. Also mention the source TV Program, Movie, Albums etc. Even better if you can mention the reason you like the song. I believe everyone can know of good songs by this that they don't.

I only know very few songs. My favorite songs are mostly from Animes but, there are others too.

    These are my favorite songs.

    1. Wolf's Rain - Gravity: Listen (English)

Been a long road to follow
    Been there and gone tomorrow
    Without saying goodbye to yesterday
Are the memories I hold still valid?
Or have the tears deluded them?
    Maybe this time tomorrow
The rain will cease to follow...
    ..

    2. Trinity Blood - Broken Wings: Listen (English)

I know this will not remain, forever
    However it's beautiful
Your eyes, hands and your warm smile
    They're my treasure
    It's hard to forget.
I wish there was a solution
Don't spend your time in confusion.....

    3. Black Cat - Diamond Flowers: Listen (Japanese)

Hajimari wa itsumo sou konjou no sora no,
    shicha
Hikari o tatete ima boku wa aruki dasu
Yeah kimi no ni hikaru sabato (moeru kata)
Daia no hana o sagashite (shitani suzukeru)
Hajimete dame ka no tame ni ima boku wa....

    4. Titanic - My Heart Will Go On: Listen (English)

    Every night in my dreams
I see you, I feel you
That is how I know you, go on
    Far across the distance
    And spaces Between us
You have come to show you, go on......

    5. The Sound of Music - Maria:
    Listen (English)

The hills are alive with the sound of music
With songs they have sung for a thousand years
The hills fill my heart with the sound of music
My heart wants to sing every song it hears

My heart wants to beat like the wings of the birds
that rise from the lake to the trees
My heart wants to sigh like a chime that flies
from a church on a breeze......

I will update as I remember/find. Like to know everyone else's favorites now.

This is my fav: I just love the lyrics....

Nazar Ke Saamne Jigar Ke Paas - Aashqui: Listen (Hindi)

Nazar Ke Saamne Jigar Ke Paas
Koi Rehta Hai Vo Ho Tum

Betaabi Kya Hoti Hai Poochho Mere Dil Se
Tanha Tanha Lauta Hoon Main To Bhari Mehfil Se
    Mar Na Jaoon Kahin
Mar Na Jaoon Kahin Hoke tumse Juda

Nazar Ke Saamne Jigar Ke Paas
Nazar Ke Saamne Jigar Ke Paas
Koi Rehta Hai Vo Ho Tum

Tanhai Jeene Na De Bechaini Tadpaaye
Tumko Main Na Dekhoon To Dil Mera Ghabraye
    Ab Mujhe Chhodke
Ab Mujhe Chhodke Door Jaana Nahin

Will post more as & when I remember.

    Bob Dylan's
    In My Time Of Dying

Well, in my time of dying don't want nobody to mourn
All I want for you to do is take my body home
Well, well, well, so I can die easy
    Well, well, well

Lord, in my time of dying don't want nobody to cry
All I want you to do is take me when I die
Well, well, well, so I can die easy
    Well, well, well
Well, well, well, so I can die easy
Jesus gonna make up, Jesus gonna make up
Jesus gonna make up my dying bed.

Hmmmm, this is tricky i have so many songs which i like but the funny thing is I cant think of any of them!

I don't think i have an all time favourite or a particular song which i like as i like many, but i like a combination of English songs, Hindi songs, Qawalli's (Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan), Ghazals (Jagjit Singh) and of course a die hard Bhangra fan and i think i like a larger majority of Bhangra songs!

Hmm again...Guys I can't pick anything fav from a movie or song...
My choice is so versatile...I like to listen everything which suits my personality....I can't do justice on this part...Its totally depends upon my mood...something I load my pendrive with aloads of Hip Hop beats high bassed songs before travelling in my car but ends up with listening to slow songs no matter english hindi punjabi...

I still feel like listening to Quit playing games(BSB), Final Countdown, chhalla (Gurdass mann) o mere dil ke chain (Kishore kumar), you sang to me, everthing i do, nasha ye pyar ka nasha (mann), gori teri ankhen (lucky ali), jaane wafa (movie:mitr), it's my life, sona disda (anamika) ; jado kissi gabru te dil aa gaya (gippy grewal), rahe mitra di chadti kala

But still can't call any of them my all time fav..

Hey Any body got this song Jaane Wafa from the movie MITR; I have searched this alot on net but unsuccessful; I have this song in an Audio cassette....can't anyone help me in getting this one

One more fav song of mine..

Hosh Valon Ko Khabar Kya Bekhudi Kya Cheez Hai - Sarfarosh (hindi) - Listen

Hosh Valon Ko Khabar Kya Bekhudi Kya Cheez Hai
Ishq Kije Phir Samajhiye Zindagi Kya Cheez Hai
    Hosh Valon Ko Khabar Kya...

Unse Nazrein Kya Mili Roshan Fizayen Ho Gayi
Aaj Jaana Pyar Ki Jaadugari Kya Cheez Hai
    Ishq Kije Phir Samajhiye...

Khulti Zulfon Ne Sikhayi Mausamon Ko Shayari
Jhukti Aankhon Ne Bataya Maikashi Kya Cheez Hai
    Ishq Kije Phir Samajhiye...

Hum Labon Se Keh Na Paye Unse Haal-E-Dil Kabhi
Aur Voh Samjhe Nahin Yeh Khamoshi Kya Cheez Hai
    Ishq Kije Phir Samajhiye...

    geeez brother,hmy:

I m sure glad that I was able 2 help......

    "Moon River"
music by Henry Mancini, lyrics by Johnny Mercer sung by Audrey Hepburn in the film "Breakfast at Tiffany's"

Moon River, wider than a mile,
I'm crossing you in style some day.
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker,
wherever you're going I'm going your way.
Two drifters off to see the world.
There's such a lot of world to see.
We're after the same rainbow's end--
    waiting 'round the bend,
    my huckleberry friend,
    Moon River and me.
    ------------------------------------------------
Are you lonesome tonight by Elvis

    Are you lonesome tonight,
    Do you miss me tonight?
Are you sorry we drifted apart?
Does your memory stray to a brighter sunny day
When I kissed you and called you sweetheart?
Do the chairs in your parlor seem empty and bare?
Do you gaze at your doorstep and picture me there?
Is your heart filled with pain, shall I come back again?
Tell me dear, are you lonesome tonight?

I wonder if youre lonesome tonight
You know someone said that the worlds a stage
And each must play a part.
Fate had me playing in love you as my sweet heart.
Act one was when we met, I loved you at first glance
You read your line so cleverly and never missed a cue
Then came act two, you seemed to change and you acted strange
    And why Ill never know.
Honey, you lied when you said you loved me
And I had no cause to doubt you.
But Id rather go on hearing your lies
Than go on living without you.
Now the stage is bare and Im standing there
    With emptiness all around
And if you wont come back to me
Then make them bring the curtain down.

Is your heart filled with pain, shall I come back again?
Tell me dear, are you lonesome tonight?

maddy just reminded me of this song :

I gave a letter to the postman,
    He put it his sack.
    Bright in early next morning,
    He brought my letter back.

    She wrote upon it:
    Return to sender, address unknown.
No such number, no such zone.
We had a quarrel, a lovers spat
I write Im sorry but my letter keeps coming back.

So then I dropped it in the mailbox
    And sent it special d.
    Bright in early next morning
It came right back to me.

    She wrote upon it:
    Return to sender, address unknown.
No such person, no such so.

This time Im gonna take it myself
And put it right in her hand.
And if it comes back the very next day
Then Ill understand - the writing on it

    Return to sender, address unknown.
No such number, no such zone.

    -------------------------------------sung by Elvis Presley

one of my fav is this

A hundred days had made me older since the last time that I saw your pretty face
A thousand lights had made me colder and I dont think I can look at this the same
But all the miles had separate
They disappeared now when Im dreaming of your face

Im here without you baby but your still on my lonely mind
I think about you baby and I dream about you all the time
Im here without you baby but your still with me in my dreams
And tonight its only you and me

The miles just keep rolling as the people leave their way to say hello
I've heard this life is overrated but I hope that it gets better as we go

Im here without you baby but your still on my lonely mind
I think about you baby and I dream about you all the time
Im here without you baby but your still with me in my dreams
And tonight girl its only you and me

Everything I know, and anywhere I go
it gets hard but it wont take away my love
And when the last one falls, when its all said and done
it gets hard but it wont take away my love

Im here without you baby but your still on my lonely mind
I think about you baby and I dream about you all the time
Im here without you baby but your still with me in my dreams
And tonight girl its only you and me

Im here without you baby but your still on my lonely mind
I think about you baby and I dream about you all the time
Im here without you baby but your still with me in my dreams
but tonight girl its only you and me

yes, songs are always depend on mood i like melody (specially romantic melody of 90's ),sad song, few type of semi-classical but really i don't like much pop and western(only few songs) and also lyrics are important for me in song.If lyrics are understandable and good enough meaningful then i like that song very much.

Maybe...But they are not as good as our Malayalam Songs..
Talking seriously, many of Tamil songs are just hippad-hopped , damkunakkina......kind of songs.....lol...
But, most of Malayalam songa have some good sense and better music works.
If you can understand Malayalam, atleast a bit, you would really start appreciating it a lot...

well maybe the newest ones are the fast beats, but
the 80s and 90s Ilayaraaja music was without equal

Come to think of it, Kannada songs also are pretty good (better than the rest I would say!!! ).

Talking seriously, I love songs from the 70s and 80s. They used to have everything - melody, beautiful and meaningful lyrics, good voice (notably SPB, S Janaki and our very own Dr. Rajkumar)!!!

Don't worry about the meaning of some of these new Tamil songs.
Especially the song you requested, I don't think it makes any sense
even if you understand the language. For example if I translate the
appadi podu song it goes something like this.

    put it like that ...
put it like that excellently with your eyes
    put it like this ...
pull and put with your hands

I'll carry you on my back to your village
I will play hide and seek with you..

and so on and so forth..

sometimes you wish you don't understand the lyrics of some new Tamil songs ;-)

and so on and so forth..

sometimes you wish you don't understand the lyrics of some new Tamil songs ;-)

    -F

I am not sure because I haven't seen the Abishek Bhachan one.
This is Vijay from the Tamil movie Gilli.

    -F
You are right man. Nowadays, many songs don't even have a common sense. But, there are still some there in which we can be proud of, as Indians.

WHAT? Are you serious? How old are you? No offense, but Backstreet boys sounds good only when you are in class 5

You people should really try to listen to some Rock/Metal/Grunge.

well ... there are lots of fav songs ... but i am mentioning only one here ...

    amazing lyrics

    Always ( Bon Jovi )

    This romeo is bleeding
But you can't see his blood
    It's nothing but some feelings
That this old dog kicked up

It's been raining since you left me
Now I'm drowning in the flood
You see I've always been a fighter
But without you I give up

    Now I can't sing a love song
Like the way it's meant to be
Well, I guess I'm not that good anymore
    But baby, that's just me

And I will love you, baby - Always
And I'll be there forever and a day - Always
I'll be there till the stars don't shine
    Till the heavens burst and
    The words don't rhyme
And I know when I die, you'll be on my mind
And I'll love you - Always

Now your pictures that you left behind
Are just memories of a different life
Some that made us laugh, some that made us cry
One that made you have to say goodbye
What I'd give to run my fingers through your hair
To touch your lips, to hold you near
When you say your prayers try to understand
    I've made mistakes, I'm just a man

When he holds you close, when he pulls you near
When he says the words you've been needing to hear
I'll wish I was him 'cause those words are mine
To say to you till the end of time

Yeah, I will love you baby - Always
And I'll be there forever and a day - Always

If you told me to cry for you
    I could
If you told me to die for you
    I would
Take a look at my face
    There's no price I won't pay
To say these words to you

    Well, there ain't no luck
    In these loaded dice
But baby if you give me just one more try
We can pack up our old dreams
    And our old lives
We'll find a place where the sun still shines

And I will love you, baby - Always
And I'll be there forever and a day - Always
I'll be there till the stars don't shine
    Till the heavens burst and
    The words don't rhyme
And I know when I die, you'll be on my mind
And I'll love you - Always

    Anyone interested in "Punk Rock"

My favourite in punk rock would be Fool's Garden, Joy Division, Sex pistols..

Here's Lemon Tree by Fool's Garden
I'm sitting here in the boring room
It's just another rainy Sunday afternoon
    I'm wasting my time
    I got nothing to do
    I'm hanging around
    I'm waiting for you
But nothing ever happens and I wonder

I'm driving around in my car
    I'm driving too fast
    I'm driving too far
I'd like to change my point of view
    I feel so lonely
    I'm waiting for you
But nothing ever happens and I wonder

    I wonder how
    I wonder why
Yesterday you told me 'bout the blue blue sky
And all that I can see is just a yellow lemon-tree
I'm turning my head up and down
I'm turning turning turning turning turning around
And all that I can see is just another lemon-tree

    I'm sitting here
    I miss the power
I'd like to go out taking a shower
But there's a heavy cloud inside my head
    I feel so tired
    Put myself into bed
Well, nothing ever happens and I wonder

Isolation is not good for me
Isolation I don't want to sit on the lemon-tree

I'm steppin' around in the desert of joy
Baby anyhow I'll get another toy
And everything will happen and you wonder

    I wonder how
    I wonder why
Yesterday you told me 'bout the blue blue sky
And all that I can see is just another lemon-tree
I'm turning my head up and down
I'm turning turning turning turning turning around
And all that I can see is just a yellow lemon-tree
    And I wonder, wonder

    I wonder how
    I wonder why
Yesterday you told me 'bout the blue blue sky
And all that I can see, and all that I can see, and all that I can see
    Is just a yellow lemon-tree
Very nice song...Do listen "She Lost Control" by Joy Division..

Very nice song...Do listen "She Lost Control" by Joy Division..
Bro even i like this song(Lemon tree)..... The video is cool too....
My favourite though is (probably any song by Pink Floyd )
Shine On You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd...
    Code:
Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
    Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.
    Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom, blown on the
    steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter, come on you stranger, youlegend,
    you martyr, and shine!

You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.
    Shine on you crazy diamond.
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.
    Shine on you crazy diamond.
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision, rode on the
    steel breeze.
Come on you raver, you seer of visions, come on you painter, you piper,
    you prisoner, and shine!

Nobody knows where you are, how near or how far.
    Shine on you crazy diamond.
Pile on many more layers and I'll be joining you there.
    Shine on you crazy diamond.
And we'll bask in the shadow of yesterday's triumph, and sail
    on the steel breeze.
Come on you boy child, you winner and loser, come on you miner
for truth and delusion, and shine!
This one was written as a tribute to the original backbone of Pink Floyd. Syd Barrett who had to be removed from the band due to his fall from grace due to drug abuse.

In fact the entire album Wish you were here was a tribute to him....

shadows of the bright moonlight - Vishnu
Why do you be so conscious when you look me in the eyes,
If I've done something to you that's made you feel so shy
You told me you'd always be there for losing you'd nothing to fear
Is there reason a for me feel so insecure
Maybe your love for, me is not for sure
If this is not true then....

Why do I feel so lonely tonight
    Without you in my arms
    Without you by side
Why do I feel so lonely tonight
When I look to the sky, waving goodbye
Why do I feel I’ll lose you for life
Coz you hide yourself in the shadows of the bright moonlight.

Come to me when I call your name
Hold me tight when I cry in pain
Help me stand and help me fly you’re the mist of the sky
Tell me the truth that answers the lie

Maybe your love for me is not for sure
If this is not true then...

Why do I feel so lonely tonight
    Without you in my arms
    Without you by side
Why do I feel so lonely tonight
When I look to the sky, waving goodbye
Why do I feel I’ll lose you for life
Coz you hide yourself in the shadows of the bright moonlight.

Why do I feel so lonely tonight
    Without you in my arms
    Without you by side
Why do I feel so lonely tonight
When I look to the sky, waving goodbye
Why do I feel I’ll lose you for life
Coz you hide yourself in the shadows of the bright moonlight.

Sleep - Poets of the fall

    Hear your heartbeat
    Beat a frantic pace
And it's not even seven AM

    You're feeling the rush
    of anguish settling
You cannot help showing them in.

    Hurry up then
    Or you'll fall behind and
They will take control of you

    And you need to heal
    The hurt behind your eyes
    Fickle words crowding your mind

    So
Sleep, sugar, let your dreams flood in,
Like waves of sweet fire, you're safe within
Sleep, sweetie, let your floods come rushing in,
And carry you over to a new morning

    Try as you might
You try to give it up
Seems to be holding on fast

    It's hand in your hand
    A shadow over your
A beggar for soul in your face

    Still it don't matter
    If you won't listen
If you won't let them follow you

    You just need to heal
    Make good all your lies
Move on and don't look behind

    Day after day
    Fickle visions
    Messing with your head
    Fickle, vicious
    Sleeping in your bed
    Messing with your head
    Fickle visions
    Fickle, vicious

One of my favourites is Cheer Down by George Harrison. This track is also the end track of Lethal Weapon 2.

    Hazard

My mother came to hazard when I was just seven
Even then the folks in town said with predjudiced eyes
    That boys not right
Three years ago when I came to know mary
First time that someone looked beyond the rumors and the lies
    And saw the man inside

We used to walk down by the river
She loved to watch the sun go down
We used to walk along the river
And dream our way out of this town

No one understood what I felt for mary
No one cared until the night she went out walking alone
    And never came home
Man with a badge came knocking next morning
Here was I surrounded by a thousand fingers suddenly
    Pointed right at me

I swear I left her by the river
I swear I left her safe and sound
I need to make it to the river
And leave this old nebraska town

I think about my life gone by
And how its done me wrong
Theres no escape for me this time
All of my rescues are gone, long gone

I swear I left her by the river
I swear I left her safe and sound
I need to make it to the river
And leave this old nebraska town

    Animal I Have Become lyrics

    Songwriters: Stock, Barry; Brown, Gavin; Gontier, Adam; Sanderson, Neil; Walst, Brad;

    I can't escape this hell
    So many times I've tried
    But I'm still caged inside
Somebody get me through this nightmare
    I can't control myself

So what if you can see the darkest side of me
No one will ever change this animal I have become
Help me believe it's not the real me
Somebody help me tame this animal!
    This animal, this animal

    I can't escape myself
    So many times I've lied
    But there's still rage inside
Somebody get me through this nightmare
    I can't control myself

So what if you can see the darkest side of me
No one will ever change this animal I have become
Help me believe it's not the real me
Somebody help me tame this animal I have become

Help me believe it's not the real me
Somebody help me tame this animal

Somebody help me through this nightmare
    I can't control myself
Somebody wake me from this nightmare
    I can't escape this hell

    This animal, this animal
    This animal, this animal
    This animal, this animal
    This animal

So what if you can see the darkest side of me
No one will ever change this animal I have become
Help me believe it's not the real me
Somebody help me tame this animal I have become

Help me believe it's not the real me
Somebody help me tame this animal!
    This animal I have become
