i have had shock attacks,i have torn my hair off..and i have shouted and screamed

like a mad guy..All this becase the rubbish and usless content TV news channels

dish out each day 24/7


its been like 10 yrs now..may be even 15 and now there are like 100 million
of them .Every day there is a new channel springing up
'
and barring like a 3 or 4..all are 'BAR THEM FOR EVER' kinds.

i have liked the few English ones which i normally see...NDTV

BOTH HINDI AND ENGLISH,Times Now,9X english , CNN both languages,CNBC etc

are good ..but the real hindi ones..like Zee,Star News and India TV and a 110 others

who just all sound so boringly similar in content.A lot of times the faces are the same too

coz the boys and gurls keep shifting

Now they have 24 hrs to fill...all thro 2007 and 2008 it was pick ups from Comedy channels
being repeated for whiling time ..on all channels..
and it became like 'bang ur head into the wall' stuff .


All of them claim to be the responsible media...raking up issues of public importance.

.but most fo the time its masala news with no real consequence.



there are timings for astrology and weird looking babas too on all channels

one of them has 3 gurls dishing out fortune stuff ! its called teen deviyaan too !


and the funny looking crime programs are legendary now

a case in point is the unfortunate murder

of 14 yr old Noida gurl Aarushi..for almost 6 months

the media ran a parallel investigation..and where is the case now

no one knows..i can tell u..Had this been another country

like the UK or the US...all those channel owners would be behind bars for

creating obstacles for the investigation



my point with all this talk is..when will we start respecting the audiences' intellect..



for god sake..people are not that dumb..give them decent controlled content


i suggest going back to 3 hrs a day TV news one hr morning one hr after noon one hr night

and tickers running all day with news content
we even heard the I&B minister talking of a content committee..but nothing happened


so guys get up and get us out of this morass of absurd crap of 24 hr TV news.

i am also kinda guy like you when comes about news channels,
but we Indians like these things(most of us)
when they show Rakhi Sawant/Sherlyn Chopra, T.R.P increases(or some extra-terrestrial breaking news)/Kaal-kapaal-mahaakaal
but when they even show some good political/educational/moral stuff we just switch off the tv....

thats why Mobile business is flourishing more than Book business in India, cause we like to know more of gossips-talking etc than learning whats going in this world..

all of Indian people is a hypocratic society with bunch of guys telling you we are intellectual and while discussing stuffs like if Rakhi should marry Elesh or Manmohan...

I like to watch news channels at the time of budget presentation by the Union Railway Minister and Finance minister ( so that I dont have to wait for the nespaper next day morning to know about my tax liability for the financial year)and at the time of election results. Rest of the time , all the other news is always repeated on all channels, as you have mentioned. I suppose you can stick to any one channel that doesn't exaggerate or is bent upon giving sensational news. I personally prefer CNN IBN. If there are interviews with V.I.Ps, I like to watch them. Especially Devil's advocate with Karan Tapar. The other programme I like is -" The week that wasn't" by Cyrus. However there was one time I was glued to the TV the whole day - That was at the time of Mumbai terrorist attacks. But for those news channels we woudn't have known in such detail what was happening.
