Uninor Mobile
Uninor is one of the most recent telephone operators in India. They have come into the Indian market only in 2009. They try to attract the Indian customers through their tariffs. They work on the four core values,
- Make it easy
- Be inspiring
- Keep promises
- Be respectful
Indian mobile market is becoming increasingly competitive. All the mobile operators are reducing their tariff plans drastically to stay in the game. Without the right tariff plans, it is not possible to attract customers. These days, mobile users are becoming highly discerning. They make prudent comparisons between service providers.
Uninor has received mixed welcome from its customers. These days mobile users are very particular about the mobile coverage they receive. As many people travel extensively, they prefer mobile services that are highly reliable in terms of coverage. One of the reasons why Airtel and BSNL have been dominating is not because of their tariff plans but due to their reliable coverage. Only those who limit their movement to city limits use Vodaphone, Aircel etc. If Uninor has to capture a decent market share, they will have to have a very strong infrastructure. They have already made tower sharing agreements with several companies. Unless they prove themselves in terms of mobile coverage, they may not get the expected success in the mobile market.
However Uninor’s USP seems to center around their competitive pricing. It is hard to find any useful information in their corporate website on the tariff plans. It is very difficult to navigate through their website. So new customers have to rely on the television ads and the information provided at the Uninor outlets. Uninor has introduced something called Call Set Up charge which is not commonly known to us. When you make your call using Uninor, the first minute will be charged at a different rate than the subsequent minutes. As per the current Talk Longer tariff plan introduced by them, they charge 39p for the first minute and the subsequent minutes are charged at 29p per minute.
If you don’t want to incur the call set up charge, you can choose Callmore tariff plan. Here you will however have to pay a daily rental of Rs. 2. All the calls including the initial minute will be charged at 29p per minute. If you are going to make over 20 calls per day, you will benefit from this plan. If the number of calls you make per day is going to be less than 20 calls, then you will benefit from Talk Longer tariff plan. You must carefully review your usage before you choose your plan. Pulse rate with Uninor is 60 seconds. When all the service providers are trying to lure their customers with 1p per second billing, Uninor is trying to take a different approach. We will have to wait and see how this new company is going to fight the competition.
