Soft launch is expected on Oct 10, 2008.
I guess they have postponed their launch for the time being.. no pressreleases nothing.

NEW DELHI: Consumer electronics major Videocon has delayed the launch of its Direct-to-home (DTH) venture. The company had earlier said it would start pilot tests in July and launch commercially in August. Videocon’s DTH brand, D2H, would be the sixth player to enter the DTH space.
Videocon Industries director Saurabh Dhoot said, “We haven’t delayed our launch. We would start testing signals before the year end and launch it next year. I can’t reveal the exact date of the launch.” As per industry sources, Videocon would not be in a position to launch its DTH venture commercially before March next year.
The company has announced plans to invest Rs 1,000 crore in the next three year on its DTH business. The company has also said that it would offer its product at competitive prices and would leverage its consumer durable customer base to grab the initial numbers.
According to industry sources, there could be atleast one additional company who has applied for DTH license and has also talked to technology partners. India would be the first country in the world to have 6-7 DTH players and industry experts believe it would be a formidable task for them to exist and maintain the subscriber numbers.
News Corp owned NDS Group chairman & CEO Abe Peled who was recently on an India visit had said, “If you ask me, it is difficult for seven DTH companies to coexist.” NDS provides digital cable and DTH companies with pay television technology.
The entry of R-ADAG’s Big TV and Airtel digital television triggered a price war which has adversely impacted the profitability of DTH players. Dish TV is now looking at increasing its prices. Industry experts believe consumers attracted to players with low prices have zero loyalty factor and therefore players could loose such subscribers after they end their promotional offers.
Videocon would not be in a position to launch its DTH venture commercially before March next year.

5- indias 1st co. making of washing machine with dryer.
6- co. looses their washng machine mkt.
7. co. not involved in any kind of broadcasting services yet

i predict this co. will be failure in DTH services

most probaly it may launch on aipril09
yet another expectation from my side ... lets see wat kind of plans and tariffs they come up with ... i have been looking to move from tata sky to some other DTH as it is proving to be to costly ... but none of the current dth seems to be fulfulling all my needs
its not be launched yet, so tariffs are far long away, if you are thinking of switching try considering something which has already been launched, and you will find a lot of reviews for the other DTH companies on the forum itself!
i have reviewed all the DTH services and cannot really find a better alternative of tata sky in terms of prices ... tata is proving to be really costly for me if i opt for most of the packages (those cannot be ignored) ... thats why i talked of this expectation from videocon ...Originally Posted by Preeti_20

bad news ... i hope they come up with some good plans featuring most of the wanted channels ...
well videocon tried their hands in every thing from Real Estate to Mobile service to DTH.
But sadly, none really took off.
There is one more brand coming soon under videocon " Mango " Idea is to import cheap Chinese mobile phone rename it as Videocon Mango sell it " What a stupid IDEA "

Indian is the only country the whole world where 6-7 players are there in DTH space.
also videocon has lost early mover advantage, now only way to enter market is via penetration pricing, which means huge losses and long break-even period.
videocon's finicial condition is not that sound. I don't think we would see videocon in DTH space anytime soon
Well yes, accoring to the news, they are going to launch d2h services on 27th of April 2009.

The informations there seems to be right as it says that the informations here by are collected from a very high corporate resource.
There has been no such hype about Videocon DTH services why is that?
When any final dates on the launch and is it different in all states?
videocon dth will be launched within two months Videocon is launching the dth service within 2 months..and its unique feature is without wires ...
only dish and the box..no wires..its a wireless technology used for this dth.
its simply new idea for some customers for not drilling the walls to bring the cables inside the home ...happy na....

sun tv is no good either
reception of big tv is not clear
and yes tata sky is very goood indeed....but thier pricing just seems to make fools out of custonmers
