Thread: Is Videocon D2H good?

Hello All,

I have after a long thinking decided to switch to DTH.
I was browsing through the catalogs of all the DTH providers, I found Videocon's rates cheaper(Diamond pack is charged at Rs 275/- taxes included) as compared to any other DTH service provider.
As my cable-wallah charges us Rs. 300, and I think he provides us with all the channels, but the reception of some channels is bad.

So I want to know if Videocon provides good quality and service.

I dont know about the service and quality, but if you are someone who wants a wide range of channels then I would recommend going for something like Tata Sky, as they have many channels and I think the most out of all the DTH companies. You can also consider Dish TV, as Videocon has lesser channels than other DTH providers.

Actually I was originally going for DishTV untill I came to know about Videocon D2H.
As for TataSky, I don't find its pricing and package combinations attractive enough.

how many channels ppl r watching at a time, these dth companies r fooling the common man. when dth was started, it was said that u only pay for what u watch. but its not the reality.
y dont they charge rs. 5/per channel n gv the option to viewers to select from the list, instead of giving bouquets.

I have purchased SettopBox n DVD, channel reception quality is good.
We dont have to switch cables for DVD and DTH since it is one pack.

Also current pricing 275 includes all the channels with good quality reception.

Worth a try.

d2h pack 275 is great all channels are covered sports , lifestyle, etc.

I have been using Cable Settop box Hathway for more than 2 years now, and it was only on this saturday that I decided to go for Videocon with Diamond Plan, which comes for Rs 275, all inclusive, and it s working fine. The picture quality is good, sound clarity is amazing, and so far its been a good experiance.

Has all the channels, of all the generes which we generally watch, movie, entertainment, sports, news.....

Going forward, it seems to be a clear winner.

Hi All,
I am using Videocon DTH from last 20 days.
Picture quality is good & I am totally happy with the quality & features.
There Active movies i.e. MovieOnDemand are still not fully operationalised so you will watch 6 movies all the time for free(although all are worthless including Ash movies Mistress of Spices).
Rates are cheapest as compared to Airtel & other DTH players & if you but a 6 month or 12 month Diamond pack (which contains all Channel inclusing English Movies & all Cricket channels) the average cost per month will be around 245 Rs.

I am gonna try as i am fed up with my IPTV service.
275 pm with all channels is Good enuf.

please don't purchase videocone d2h - because its signal quality is not good at the time, dont' purchase reliance big tv - because its signal quality is too poor it was fail in rainy & bad weather, dont' purchase tata sky - because it is too costly (pay more, get less) & also don't purchase sun tv - because in this dth you saw more south channels

Please & Please purchase Airtel Digital TV - because it was good in all fields (less amt., more channels, very- very good signal quality & picture quality is too good.)

I bought Videocon DTH DVD in Bangalore on 24-Nov-09 at 3:45 PM. At 5:45 PM, Videocon installation team called me and asked if they can install on same day. They arrived at 6:15 PM, and the installation was done professionaly. I checked the DTH-DVD player in meantime, and quality of DVD player was comparable with other DVD player I have bought previously. The USB and SD/MMC/MS interface are on front panel, which is convenient. USB is version 2.0. I checked SD slot with uSD card plugged in uSD-SD adapter. The unit has built in power supply, which was convenient for me as my DTH box location is at height, so no fear of power adapter falling.

I have not tested component cables with my LCD, as distance between LCD & DTH-DVD is more than 5 feet. The cable provided with box was for composite video (length 5 feet). I have 10 feet AV RCA cables, and there is no degrade in performance.

Based upon price, it appears best bet for normal viewer. NDTV channels are not included in Rs. 275 package, then who cares, when same themes can be seen on so many other available channels.

I did not consider Airtel DTH, because of their deceptive adevrtising. Tata Sky is expansive. Reliance Big-TV needs power adapter.

However, please keep in mind. Videocon service is new. So it will take sometime before customer support becomes superior. Normally customer support is not needed, if one buying decisions is in place.

It seems you are an airtel DTH promoter or somethingAnyhow i have been using videcon DTH for past 2.5 months and i must say i have not been disappointed..Signal quality is good ..CC is prompt(not jetfast service but they are honest at least..if they say their representative wud come after 2 days at 1 pm then he is there on time )..However they keep on repeating same movies for days on MOD which is so boring..nd dont expect too many or great interactive services like Tata Sky

I had just purchased videocon dth 5 days ago, its picture quality is good but audio quality is not good,following problems i had observed with it ----
1.picture freeze for few sec as u move from one channel to other.
2.Audio quality and volume changes from one channel to other.
3.response time taken to move from one channel to other and one function to other is very slow and sometime irritating.
4.STB hang frequently and stop responding to remote control signals.
So these are major problems need to be sorted out by VIDEOCON DTH to take a position of Number one.
In the view of economy and functions it is awesome functions are extremely good and user friendly very easy to understand and use.

i was planning to buy hd3205 lcd dth from videocon, and i have some problem with it.

i might be using tis connection for atleast 8-9 months, and i would out of country for atleast 4-5 yrs, so my point is tat, is there any option tat we can use normal cable connection to tis tv instead of videocon , bcuz the cable charges are around 150 here, but mostly regional lanaguages.. is there any chance to use normal cable connection to this tv after i leave , whr my parents can use d normal cable connection......

i have tried tata-sky and videocon-d2h. i found d2h much better than tata-sky. the piture quality of d2h is much better. d2h is alos very cheap and also has a lot more chanels. the active services of d2h are very impressive

it is possible to use normal cable on a videocon-d2h-lcd. but i think it will b very boring to use cable afeter using sumthing as good as videocon-d2h

currently i have tatasky, my annual Subscription is ending this month.... they r increasing the price every year... now i want to change to d2h... how is the signal quality of d2h? n what about there services?
what do u suggest guys??

d2h's [icture quality as well as signal is far much better than that of TataSky's as d2h uses mpeg-4 technology! servicing is specificaly of excellent quality as they hav 2/3 toll-free numbers...so it is always very easy to get in touch with the engineers if something goes wrong....i hav complete trust in d2h!!

very true.....doubting the quality of videocon-d2h obviously means tht this fello is an airtel promoter....with mpeg-4 technology, videocon-d2h is much better than airtel or tatasky!!

airtel is pretty much rubbish according to me....one of my friends had bought airtel just 3 months ago.......and when i asked him about his experience, he said tht the service is really crap....even when there is very light rain or wind, the airtel-dth shows 'no signal'...he even told me tht the help-line tht they have given is generally always 'busy'

Can somebody tell me How long will the connection remain valid if I don't recharge? Suppose I am abroad and not able to recharge for couple of months.

Connection remains valid till 15 days from the date of expiry. Thereafter, reconnection charges are applied. So it is best that connection remains active.

You can charge from abroad also via internet banking or credit card.

Am using normal cable connection with cisco settop box picture quality and sound quality is exellent and getting more than 150 channels 10 radio channels all this all this only for 175rs/month.

Ok friends, i just want to know 1 thing - I hav seen many comments praising the signal quality of d2h.

I only want to know whether this is even better than Reliance Big TV? i mean people complain that its Signal fails the moment there is slightest of Rain....is the same thing happening with d2h?
And even if that happens, within how much time it gets restored? Coz i have heard diff views abt Reliance - some say it resumes in a few minutes, and some say it lasts until the Rain stops.....

Pls let me know, coz i need to make a decision by the end of this month!!

I've been using Videocon d2h from past two months.. The service is really goood.. They are offering maximum channels at a minimum price.. The picture qual;ity is really good too.. I'm satisfied with their service..

After i had posted that, i finally got d2h 1-2 weeks back....

And even i am happy with them!!

And now the best part is they have added ten cricket too . . I like their service, more than dish tv and tata sky.. Other DTH are just way too expensive and not in my budget too. .
