Nintendo Wii has been a smash hit in the US market. It is pretty apparent from the fact that the online retailing giant Amazon.com sold out their stock of this gaming console in less than 60 seconds of launch.

The company announced on their website: “We sold out of our initial supply of the Wii on Sunday morning, November 19, in less than one minute. We expect to receive periodic shipments of the Wii from Nintendo throughout the holidays.”

Interestingly the site did mention about a would-be reseller where a second hand Wii unit was available at an astounding cost of $999.95.

Even the traditional retailers in the market reported huge demand for Nintendo Wii, which takes on both the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony Playstation 3 in the US market.

Nintendo would be launching this console in the UK market on December 8 and the stores there expect the same kind of demand for Wii in their market.
