Market research has shown that Sony is failing to generate huge sales of their recently launched Playstation 3 gaming console due to lack of supplies in the market.

The sales figures for the console after the initial launch period have been less than impressive. Sony is said to have sold just around 43,378 units in Japan during the seven days from Nov. 13 to Nov. 19.

This is a disappointing figure when compared to 88,400 units sold during the first two days of launch. Sony has declined to comment on these figures but have said that they are working hard on ensuring regular supplies of the consoles to the market.

The company had been facing troubles due to problems procuring blue-laser diodes used by the Blu-Ray drive powering the Playstation 3 console. The sales of games for this console has been less than impressive considering a lot of units bought initially were purely for reselling on auction sites.
