Default Sony fails to reach PS3 sales target in the United States

Market sources claim that Sony managed to sell 197,000 PlayStation 3 consoles in the U.S. during November.
This means that Sony just managed to sell half of their estimated units mostly because they failed to supply enough units in the market.
In comparison, Nintendo managed to sell around 476,000 units. Microsoft was the first one of the three to launch their next generation console Xbox 360 and they sold around 511,000 machines.
Sony had earlier said that they aimed at supplying around 400,000 consoles at launch in the USA. Wii benefitted from their lack of supplies and managed to gain customers for their Wii console, which is considerably cheaper when compared to PS3 and Xbox 360.
Nintendo has said that they are supplying around 250,000 Wiis to the U.S. each week but market sources say that this too is not enough for the market as demand continues to dominate the supplies.

not only in U.S, in asian as well.
the main reason i can see thru is because of using blue-ray cd.
as we all know, sorry to say most asian gamers and western as well bought a pirated CD.
and the bad news is blue-ray CD so far can't be duplicated. as the price for games is very high, it's affecting the console as well...

The Wii has found it very hard to keep up with the demand. It's nearly impossible to find a Wii here in the US. My friend needed to drive 4 hours to get the nearest one. Nintendo dropped the ball on this one. They would have a lot more sales this Christmas if they could keep up. They'll be kicking themselves in the butt later on in the year when they finally do get a bunch out and no one wants them.

Personally i believe this is coming because of the high price of PS3 , although im quite sure that there will be much more sales in the coming months when the price will go down (im sure it will go down and the final price will be like $350 or $400)

Sony would surely fail to achieve this target as they have placed there product at high price which is a wrong thing. Look at Nintendo they have a great product at right price and they are not able to meet up with the market demand. I think market should reconsider there price thing with PS3.

Not only PS3 is over priced but all of the sony products are over priced and i think that if they do not take some decision about it soon they would see big falls in their sales reports in near future.

I think they have already seen this thing and that is why they have launched cheaper version of their gaming consoles. I don't think that Sony can do any thing else about it.

Their present cheaper versions are also costly as compared to other gaming consoles which i think is not a good thing. I think they should further decrease the price of their gaming consoles.

This is really bad news for Sony it self. They want to control piracy but not everyone in the world is willing to pay a huge money for console and game. They need consider their price for console and game too.
