Market sources claim that Sony managed to sell 197,000 PlayStation 3 consoles in the U.S. during November.
This means that Sony just managed to sell half of their estimated units mostly because they failed to supply enough units in the market.
In comparison, Nintendo managed to sell around 476,000 units. Microsoft was the first one of the three to launch their next generation console Xbox 360 and they sold around 511,000 machines.
Sony had earlier said that they aimed at supplying around 400,000 consoles at launch in the USA. Wii benefitted from their lack of supplies and managed to gain customers for their Wii console, which is considerably cheaper when compared to PS3 and Xbox 360.
Nintendo has said that they are supplying around 250,000 Wiis to the U.S. each week but market sources say that this too is not enough for the market as demand continues to dominate the supplies.
