Thread: Nintendo Wii dominated console market in February

Japanese videogame console maker Nintendo continues to dominate the US videogame console market with their Wii console.

The Wii gaming console was the best-selling video game console in the United States in February. The data was made available by the market research firm NPD.

As per the information available, Nintendo managed to sell around 335,000 Wii consoles in the market last month. In comparison, Sony sold around 127,000 units of their Playstation 3 console.

Microsoft’s Xbox 360 saw sales of 228,000 units. Sony however continues to sell an incredible number of their older generation PS2 console. They sold 295,000 PlayStation 2 consoles in February.

This is a sure thing. Nintendo is evern finding it hard to keep up with the demand they are getting right now for there Wii. Wii is a great gaming console at a right price..

It is not only in the Feb that Nintendo managed to get good sales but they have broken all the sales records that were set till now. Nintendo offer very cheap and best gaming consoles which gammers were looking for. I am sure to see more good news from them.

It used to be a two way fight when it comes to videogame console, that is between playstation and xbox but now after the entry of the third one, wii. it is really hotting up. When everyone was taking about xbox and ps, wii has silently emerged a winner. This is really a great achievement considering they started it late while the other two were established even before wii started.

Nitendo is a good gaming console and at the same time they are also cheap which is the major positive point in this gaming console because of which this console has been liked by every one in the market and it saw such big demand.

The biggest boost that Nitendo got is from United States and Japan market. These are the two market in which Nintendo still have a huge demand and they are facing problem in meeting up with the demand.

This is becoz all their competitor set the price so high for console and game. People nowaday not really want spend so much money for something that can get much cheaper. Becoz of this strategy Nintendo can get much better demanded from US dan Japan market.

Actually that is half true. Wii console is cheap at $249.99 US retail. Games are made by independent makers such as EA, Activision, etc. The games themselves cost more or less the same for consoles.

Wii has become a rage because of its unique interactive experience via Wii Remote. It actually took lot of game makers such as EA by surprise and they were quite unprepared for the overwhelming response. This is also one reason why there are not so many titles available for Wii platform that exploit it fully.

PS3 mainly sells mainly because it also offers a Blu-Ray DVD player. Sony is looking to reduce the RRP of PS3 to compete against Wii.

Thanks for correcting my info. Btw if sony is looking to reduce their price might be can compete back with Wii. Hope sony will make this move to regain their sale.
