Piracy is an attitude and not just about price.
I think that Piracy is matter of price. Like if all these games and other things are available for cheap price then i dont think that people would like to go with pirated things.

It starts with the classic excuse: too costly. But it does not end there.

I certainly agree that games are overpriced and price should be brought down to encourage more sales.

But how cheap should be "cheap"?

I have seen people prefer to use hacked copies of shareware programs that are priced as low as $20 to $25. Why will anyone pay if some bootlegged copy is available free or almost free? I have seen people buying bootlegged copies of VCDs/DVDs on the streets. The quality is absolute crap. A family of four will spend nearly Rs. 1000/- on a visit to multiplex but will not buy the official DVD for Rs. 350/- or VCD for Rs. 150/- (prices for Hindi movies). No, they will get it off the streets for Rs. 40/-.

I do not buy any pirated material as a matter of principle. I also have freeware.

A 2,000 rupee game is not cheap. ( if you live in some european country or some country which currency have more value then of india then let me tell you one thing every body is not living like you and every one does not have the same amount of money you have. People are doing what they like to do and for people who earn money in there mother land and work for there mother land know that a 2000 rupee game is not a cheap to buy even thoughsome one is earning 20 -30 K per month) .

Yes, Xibit you have dotted this one. The prices of these present games are not any where cheap and second things i think this is the main reason people are going for the pirated games which are causing a big loss to entertainment and gaming industry.

I would say that piracy would keep on continuing till there are very cheap games and i think that these big companies like EA and others should make games in Asian countires where cost of making these are very less.

Well i dont think that there is any high cost of making a CD in European countires but the main thing for this high price is that companies make money from it..
