Thread: PC or Gaming console to play games?

Which one do you think that is the better one to play games. Do you think that Pc is a better option to play games or do you think that Gaming consoles like PS3, Xbox etc are much better to play games?

As of me i would say that Pc is better option to play games and this is because we can play PS and Pc games on it.

For sheer pleasure, PC cannot measure upto the likes of PS3, XBox 360, etc. And then there is Wii. We have not seen Wii in India and at the moment the titles available on Wii are limited. But my word! It will blow you away.

With a PS3 you also get a Blu-Ray Player.

PC's main advantage is that it serves multiple purposes.

Well for gaming i would like to go with gaming consoles for Pc would be good for only those games which are made for PC. So as for me both are important in there own field.

if you come to gaming then nothing is enough. There are many good games which are not available on Pc right now and people have specially purchased gaming consoles to play them. So again i would say that nothing is enugh.

Both of these are good and it would be nice to play games on the platform for which it had been made.... like if it is Pc then it would be nice to play PC games and if it is PS II then it would be good to play it on that..

I like to play games in my computer more then on my PSII but still if there is any good game which is not available on PC then i play it on my PSII otherwise i like to play games on my computer.

Long, long back as a kid, i used to dream of playing games in the pc's but when the opportunity came, i enjoyed every bit of it on the pc's. then came the gaming console and i started drooling for it and when i laid my hand on it, i could not control my emotions. Yes, gaming consoles are the best way to play games because of the controls and other features you will not get to experience in pc games.

in my opinion ,a true gamer should have both the rigs i.e. pc and ps3 as there are many good titles available on ps3, most of the famous games are being developed for the ps3 platform and ofcourse the graphics are superb in ps3 but there are many negatives of ps3 like if you are living in india then power cut is a major problem so you have to connect the tv & your ps3 to your inverter.

regarding pc day by day technology is going to new levels and month after months you need to upgrade your pc to play the latest titles and obviously you should have some hard cold cash to burn to upgrade your pc if you are plannig to buy some serious products but rest assured "pc is a pc"

I like to play games on both.. so i can choose any one of these two things... both are important for me..

for only gaming purpose, go with console.

by time to time u have to upgrade the pc for gaming.

I play on both. I think the best out of PC or console is console. I have an Xbox 360 and I love it. I really want to get a wii though. :scooter:

Gaming consoles are obviously much better. But the one point i find difficult is knowing which gaming console out of PS3, XBox or the new Wii is better!!!!!

gaming console is a better idea for online gaming and to play some High end games but you can enjoy those games on your pc too if you got a good config.. like a good processor, graphic card and a good sound card like 5.1 or 7.1 now...

Some games are just good for console like WWE series

While some games like Counter strike , Command and Conquer etc needs a PC ....

Anyways the speed at which NVIDIA and ATI are releasing PC graphic card Xbox 360 and PS 3 graphics are seriously outdated.....

8800GT alpha Dog edition Overclocked
Core 2 Duo E6850 3 Ghz processor

Now that seriously blows a Gaping hole into the PS3 which sports a Nvidia RSX Graphic card which is roughly equivalent to a 7800
XBOX graphic capabilities are much lower than PS3 so its a no contest:13:

The whole comp costs only a few thousand more than a PS3 ,but can do a lot more than gaming ,movies etc unlike consoles

If you are a hardcore gamer ,its a sin to play games using outdated console graphics...

If you are a casual gamer ,there are lot of old classic titles to keep you occupied for good load of time ,so upgrading is not an issue at all ...

My vote goes for PS3 as i have used Xbox but not so good.

nice configuration EDDY.. hey tell me how much did it costed for u.. for this configuration.. and where u live.. i mean from where u brought.....i am planning for making my lappy with some nice configuration.. i have a normal.. pc.. not much gaming wise...

Yes you ll be able to play counter strike......

Nothing wrong with your Laptop.....Your are using Integrated Graphics (mobile intel graphics media acclerator 950)....For prostreet you need atleast 128 mb of DEDICATED graphics.

There is a difference between Integrated and Dedicated Graphics
Graphics that is integrated along with the Motherboard is what is called Integrated Grpahics ....it is not a separate card....its merged with your motherboard....This also makes it less effective...
Roughly a 256 mb integrated graphics = 128 mb dedicated graphics memory
of a medium/lower model graphic card.

I am a Hardware enthusiast ....I assembled my desktop myself

If you need a desktop better get it assembled ......its cheaper and you can get what you want....

1.Do some research in the internet and select a config (I ll guide you if you like)

2.Catch a reliable assembler thru your friends .

3.Get it assembled

4. Assembling will give you atleast a 5k-15k price difference (No Labour charge, tax and other blah blahs)

Most laptops cannot be upgraded better check with your Retailer ......

I ll compile a list of games you can play in your lappy tomoro.....pls bear with me

i have acer laptop... i think its upgradable.. i checked the site for acer i think i can upgrade the ram atleast... rest no much idea.... i just brought this lappi recently.. now no plans to buy any desktop more.. wateve i can do with this lappy i will be happpy..!! i dont have more options.. any idea for any software appz which can disply my hardware config,,, in detail with wehter how many slots for ram are there.. grafic card detailes.. all things.. for VISTA OS

I dont know if it works in Vista but try it anyway .....(for others reading this post) it ll work on XP

Start-->Run-->(Type dxdiag)-->ok

A window should open(It ll take a few seconds to load)

In the system tab it should show your basic config

In the Display tab it should show your graphic capabilities


If you are not obsessed with playing the latest games you can play a lot of classic games ...i ll list it out tomoro...i have played these many times again and again....
Have to check Vista Compatibility though....

PC gaming always rocks..I mean its a different experience altogether when u play games on ur pc's ....but PC's need to be upgraded regularly...

@Eddy, Your argument that PC rocks because PC graphics is superior to PS3 or Xbox 360 is fundamentally flawed.

It is true that PC graphic card can produce much higher resolution than PS3 but all those pixels are of no use because the PC games themselves are not HD. PS3 games are true HD (1980x1080 progressive scan) and hence much better looking. PC games cannot be made true HD because:

- it will require that games must be written on to a BD disk and hardly 5% (generous estimate here) of PCs have blu-ray drive (this may change soon)
- to have compatibility with DVD drives, games must be DVD compatible and hence native garphics are low.

You probably have not played with PS3+full HD-TV combination and you are just comparing native graphics' capability. And who ever told you that Xbox 360 is inferior to PS3 in graphics. Absolutely untrue. I have played many games on true hardware at EA so I can vouch for that.

-->No i have never played in true HD+Ps3 ..........But Geforce series 8 graphic cards are all HD compatible ...just hook up your CPU to an HDTV and voila you have got your HD compatible rig.....Just add an BRD drive

Point no 2 All Ps3 games are not in BRD format ....

Most of the main titles are still released in DVD format .....Ex:GTA4...if only for the sake of backward compatibility with ps2....

The games currently being made for PS3 only exploit 60 % of PS3's graphic capabilities ....
Comparing PS3 s graphics chipset and Xbox360 will show you the fact that PS3's graphics chipset is more advanced...more pixel pipelines ,advanced shader models etc ....
