Default Difference in X Box and Play Station

Well both x box and play station are very popular gaming consoles, which makes it difficult to decide in which one is better? Can anyone help out and outline the main differences in both of the gaming consoles.

Wink

I cant tell you abt the hardware differences between both the gaming console but one thing abt which I am Damn sure is that Satisfaction, Fun , Enjoyment, Thrill and most of all Worthiness of your money...these all things you could only find in Play station.

I m not saying Xbox is not the good but you can’t compare anything with Play station at least not in India.

Well everyone has its own taste but still I m for play station.

Definitely not. I have worked at Electronic Arts, Redwood Shores, USA and Chertsey, UK. I found that all EA titles are available for PS3 and XBox360 - maybe a minor aberation here and there but a title is always available within a month of either platform launch.

Game software makers simply cannot ignore the potential revenues. Xbox 360 having launched much earlier to PS3 has a very strong and loyal base. Besides backward compatibility force users to stay with the next gen platform. If you have 30 odd XBox titles you will upgrade to XBox 360 because of backward compatibility and same is true for PS2/PS3.

Coming to the main question: There are a lot of technical differences between the two platforms but for the end user it will make no difference. Both yield games in HD video and superior sound but games discs are not interplayable.

PS3 is one step higher because you get a free Blu-Ray playing capability that is not present on Xbox 360. Hence for a brand new purchase I would advise PS3.

Till some time ago, XBox came with an optional HD-DVD player. Since then HD-DVD has been scrapped. By not combining the console with a player, Microsoft kept the price low. For instance, Xbox 360 retails at $200 in US while PS3 is around $450.

This review article favours the Xbox 360 but I do not entirely agree with it.

I don't like things like this, its really confusing and because your spending quite a bit of money, you don't want to be wasting it away by getting the wrong product.

It is not like that at all.

You see that XBox 360 was released about 2 years ago and that time HD or BD were not a great contention. Xbox 360 was capable of delivering HD graphics but could not be used as HD-DVD player. All XBox 360 native games were in HD-DVD format.

Along came Sony PS3. Sony being the prime manufacterer and driver for Blu-ray (BD) had the BD playing capability as a standard. But by adding the BD player, the PS3 became costlier. Yet PS3 sales did not dip because PS2 was a huge market and to those who owned PS2, PS3 was a natural choice of upgrade path.

Microsoft had no such agenda about HD or BD but was more inclined toward HD-DVD. So they started offering HD-DVD player as an optional accessory.

With the end of the HD-DVD vs. BD format war that went in favour of BD, XBox 360 is now thinking of offering BD capability.

The basic simple difference is Play stations are a creation of Sony while the XBOX are creation of Microsoft. Both have their advantage and disadvantage and neither of them are superior over other.
