Videogaming industry legend Jeff Minter has openly criticized Sony and their upcoming Playstation 3 gaming console for its high price and lack of confirmed games.
Minter is the founder of Llamasoft and he also is credited for developing a light synthesizer for the Xbox 360. His comments were carried out in the video game magazine Edge.
Incidentally, Sony has been behaving pretty arrogantly about this upcoming gaming console launch. They have claimed it to be a potential PC replacement and have said that the price is not much considering the console is virtually future proof.
They are bundling the console with an unproven Blu-Ray disc format and if it flops against the rival HD DVD format, a lot of consumers would feel cheated.
Minter wrote in his column in the Edge magazine: “They seem absolutely certain that even when they say it’s going to be considerably more expensive than existing consoles… nevertheless us eager customers will rush out in droves to buy it because it’s, hey, a new PlayStation.”
Sony is due to launch the PS3 gaming console in November this year and expects it to be a huge success. However, with Nintendo also due to launch the innovative Nintendo Wii gaming console around the same time… it would be fun to watch how well they compete with each other.
