Japanese videogame console maker Sony has said that they are pulling the controversial Dutch billboard advertising campaign for the new white version of its PlayStation Portable video game player.

The company has also apologized to anyone who was offended by the advertisement, which highlighted the launch of the white colored Playstation Portable.

This campaign was launched in the first week of June and caused a furor on the internet after it was published on blogs and news websites.

The advertisement portrayed a white woman aggressively grabbing the face of a black woman and read “PlayStation Portable White is Coming”. The concept of course would offend anyone who has seen the discrimination based on color.

Sony said in a statement on this ad campaign: “We recognize that the subject matter of one specific image may have caused concern in some countries not directly affected by the advertising. As a result, we have now withdrawn the campaign.”
