Hi,
I was think of subscribing to Virgin mobile by seeing this various advertisements(mainly Boy talking to a Girl, while girl's mom talk on virgin

)

They advertise the rate of 50paise per minute for local and STD calls.
However, this is only applicable for

As its fooling the consumers?

actually its the other way round,
local call - first 3 min of the day @ Re.1, from 4th min @ 50p
STD - first 3 min of the day @ Rs.1.50, next 30 min @ 50p, from 34th min @ Rs.1.50
hope this clarifies the situation.

if its this way ... there's not much wrong in the promotions

yes. thats what I also think. In fact Virgin took the lead in this regard. And now Rel CDMA has responded with the Rs.39 STV.
but the catch there is, for every call, only the 2nd min. onwards its charged @ 50p.

quite a catch ... most calls we make through the day are short ones ...

I have learned my lesson the hard way for many of these gimmicks. If you think that it is too good to be true, sadly, it most likely is. When it comes to a great deal, be sure to read the fine print. There really could be a gem of a deal out there, but you have to ask yourself why they would pay someone to use their product when there are so many people out there that pay them.
