Angry 3g is not gonna be cheap

why the hell are we so excited for 3g,in any form its not gonna be cheap and will always have a data cap as telecom cos in other countries have, their plans are really costly, comparatively 4g tech is cheaper and so is wimax and if ur really into broadband i think we should wait for wimax

Hey Vinit i agree with you that data cap will be there but i dont think it will be too costly as you can see the plans of MTNL/BSNL for 3G they are gud. It will be benificial for variety of applications like connecting on social networking, checking mails etc on the move.
Also I dont think India will going to move on 4G so soon so its better to wait for 3G. Also we are excited because any way we are going to get an option of getting connected to whole world on the move...

I found it to be cheaper. 2.5 gb for 250 is good. Also it is 3.5 g.

That's the mistake. I find that cheaper. As you can get 1 gb for 450.
In broadband 550 for 2.5 gb but no mobility.

Prices are bound to go south later. Remember that cell phone charges were Rs. 32/min outgoing, Rs. 16/min incoming, er, not too long ago, in 1996 in fact.

I use MTNL 3G prepaid service in Delhi and for Rs. 1500 recharge you get 15 GB for 30 days, which is 50% more than the supposed limit of 10 GB at Rs.1000 less. (I know because I used this once and my core balance started reducing only after 15 GB got over).

And for 2500 recharge, so far I have not faced any data cap even after downloading about 28 GB in a month.

The MTNL Website also does not specify any data cap. Dolphin

Try BSNL as first option. They are putting forth many offers at the moment.
No other pvt company can give offers like this.

    Advantage Public Sector.

    Oh ya!
Please verify your fact! Why would bharat sanchar would do such thing?
Do you even know currently they are holding 75%of internet market share! And that of including the latest technology that indulges "High speed broadband" and of that 3g "Wireless" broadband services!
Soo bsnl would not ask the government to give them the refund of 3g auctions!!

BSNL provides world class internet services including 3g

That's right. BSNL has enough cash in pocket to buy the whole of 3G spectrum. They have made it well and clear they will be paying it too.

    That's ok!
But still i believe that if it was bharti or ambani's,they would do it exact!
If the customers are not interested in these advanced services!

I admit:these services include wireless technologies and here especially in India,it includes lot of investment,if the isp's don't charge so much then expanding these to [b]4g[b] will be a nightmare!
But this fact is also right that they should charge services accordingly!

The 3g spectrum in India went very very cheap ... I dont know how many of you know but its for 20 years and those companies who have circles like Maharshtra, Mumbai, Delhi and a few other big cities they are going to get rich soon..

3g is not a luxury as it is mostly thought to be.. It is something we cant do without but every person has a different value for it and the amount of money one would be willing to pay for this service will differ from person to person.

If 3g prices remain as high as they are right now then those companies who paid for the 3g spectrum will never recover their money in the 20 years... The only way for them to get their money back is by generating volumes and that in India means very low pricing.

How many of you have kept track of the voice calling charges through the years? I remember the prices in 1996 and ever since I have only seen them come down and they are still coming down because the telcos know that this is the only way they can keep on increasing the penetration. 2g rates are among the lowest in the world here in India.

Dont worry about 3g because there is no way but to lower the prices if telecom companies want India to adopt this technology in a big way
