Default [SOLVED] Advertising messages, possible to stop?

    Hello :-)

Does anybody know if there's a way to stop Vodafone and third parties sending advertising texts/SMSes and advertising service messages?

There was a thread about this on ****************** in 2006 but no solution. Maybe something that got lost in the transition from Hutch to Vodafone. If you like to see that thread, search for "Is DND list only for calls, not SMS?"

I dont use Vodafone, but giving you a suggestion that i used!

Call vodafone customer service and ask them whats the procedure for not receiving advertising sms's? They should be able to give you a number to sms, and that should do the trick!

Im sure someone on the forum who uses Vodafone, will let you know what to do according to Vodafone procedure!

Iam using vodafone. After registering DND (start<space>DND to 1909) I've never received a single ad call or SMS.

    Thanks all

With the information given I found the info on the Vodafone website by searching for "vodafone india dnd" (without the quotes). I'd give the link but have to make 15 posts before the forum lets me post links.

One little caveat: Vodafone say "Note: Requests will become effective in 45 days from the date of request". Let's hope that's a worst case scenario!

Yes, it is the maximum activation period. If you are lucky, within 10-15 days it may be activated

I got a text back immediately: "Thank you for your request .We respect your privacy, your request confirmation details will be sent to you soon." I guess they mean they will send a text when they've actioned the request -- in not more than 45 days!

It's more than 45 days now and I never did receive confirmation details but I can't remember the last time I got an advertising text. Peace! Shanti!
