Default 100 MB enough for email?

    Hi,

I am on vodafone GPRS RS 199 plan which gives 3 GB on 2G but I have observed I am not using data more than 50 MB in every bill. In GPRS that is the lowest they offer. I am planning to switch to 3G on my N8 with a plan 100 MB for100 Rs. I will be only using it for checking my email as in current GPRS and intention is to save 100 Rs, I am not unhappy with the GPRS otherwise.

Do you think considering my past usage in GPRS, Is 100 MB on 3G is enough for me?

Is there any way to keep track of my usage in vodafone 3G?

Also, My N8 uses three network mode GSM, 3G and Dual mode. I beleive to use a 3G it needs to be in 3G mode but it kills battery. If I don't use 3G mode in mobile, will I get GPRS connection over 3G plan?

    Thanks,
    Shiju

100 MB may or may not be enough. It all depends upon what number of mails and kind of mails you get. If the mails are with large attachments (that you need to download) then you will use up the usage quota soon enough. On the other hand, you can use the handheld device just to check mail (say body only) and then it may be more than sufficient.

GPRS is not available with 3G.

Hi Shiju... my advice is stick to GPRS ... under 3G plan if u cross ur 100mb by another 100mb u would shell out Rs.1000.. for saving u would be doing an opposite... on the other hand Vodafone does not hv a system to show how much is ur usage on daily basis.. u have to wait for a month till ur bill is not prepared.. sir.. i just got a bill for Rs.8000 even after having a 1GB free which i was told for the first month i would get the benefit... cost for 1GB is Rs.10,000.... my usage is only 1.2 GB... i was told about the usage once the bill was generated... be informed...
